the 5.0 engines are just starting to sell.. some backed up demand because of people waiting the new engine. I want to see how it plays out in a few months from now... will the stang still sell more? or will the camaro come back to the top??
Although, since a lot of buyers just looks at the #'s, maybe the 2011 Camaro with its new 312hp rating will grab some more sales.
Great news. I was expecting toyotas dip in sales due to acceleration issues to rebound by now.
I also think the American brands are finally getting some competitive product out there and amazingly the public is not just noticing but buying.

I think we'll see Camaro sales continue to slip now because the new Mustang is faster and has a new revised body. A new Transformers movie might buy the Camaro a bit more time with another temporary boost in sales but it's time GM freshened the Camaro with a new look and faster car.

The Camaro is just past 1 year into it's production cycle. There are certainly gripes about the car and we know what they are but lets not throw in the towel on a vehicle that just sold about 100,000 units in it's first 12 months of production. And that's with really only one or two real options color, RS and what engine you want in your coupe. This car is still has a convert and maybe a Z28 to add to the linup. I have no doubt that the Mustang will be harder to beat month to month in sales now but it's not like this Camaro is toast. This car will evolve as they all do. Look at the differences from the '93 Camaro to the 2002's. GM has already talked about a change in the dash.
And another point should be made about performance and sales. They are not dependent on each other. For as much performance as these cars offer the sales are not moved by big or low levels of performance. The 3rd Gen F-bodies sold just fine despite many of it's years being out dragged by the lighter Fox 5.0. The SN95 and Edge Mustangs trounced the F-body in sales through most of the 4th Gen and yet were handly outgunned at the track. This Camaro doesn't have to shock and awe every magazine or weekend racer to sell big on Monday. Although it's hard to downplay the brute performance of the LS3 and maybe LSA but if they get edged by the 5.0 GT and GT500 on the track but make money for GM then maybe that's the roll for the 5th Gen.
Its great to see the domestics starting to make a comeback. I know, at least in my showroom, while we're waiting on more competitve product in the next 9-12 months there is at least finally a buzz about the place.
With respect to the Camaro, I have to say I'm very impressed to see it sell 100k units in its first year in an economy this awful. The car is not for me, but I can honestly see why its sold so well...it's a beautiful sight when its going down the road.
Subtract 300-400 lbs, make it the size of a Mustang, and re-do the interior, and I'd stop my spree of buying third gens...maybe

Also the Camaro sold 100k+ during a year which saw the second great depression, GM took bail out funds and angered half the country, and while everyone is waiting for gas to jump to $5 a gallon tomorrow.
2) That's kinda what I said
