Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?

G6 just because it has the more sporty appearance.

But the only way either would grab my attention would be if they offered 30-40 horses more and/or AWD.

Id take the Maxx in an SS version with 17's and the 3.9, as well as upgraded interior like the Cobalt's seats, and the GTP's more natural hydraulic steering.

You'd think GM could at least match Nissan. Though it does out do BMW's 3.0L (if Pontiac is still going for that area at least) The price thing is no contest though. The Altima can have up to 260hp (though @ nearly $30K) Accord can have 240hp as well for around $27K.
Why do you care what the piston displacement is? More interesting parameters for an engine are dimensions, weight, and fuel efficiency. Other parameters of interest are smoothness and spread of torque curve, maintainability, and reliability.

The honda 3.0 V6 only has a torque rating of only 212 ft-lbs. while GMs HV 3.5L V6 puts out 220 lb.-ft. of torque and the 3.9L has 250 lb.-ft. of torque. Nissan Altima V6 puts out 249 lb-ft or torque. Don't for get the those 2 GM V6s are 2 vavles, the Honda and Nissan are 4 valve. The 3 valve 3.9L as shown at SEMA puts out 270HP.

I always thought the accord was a 2valver just because it's a Sohc, but was surprised it was packing 24 valves.

Will the 3valve 3.9L ever see production? I haven't heard much info surrounding this engine as of late.

Both vaporware at this point...

I'll need to see the final products.

GTP is coming, and Car and Driver tested a pre-production version.
As for the Malibu SS.....no comment.

Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?

I like the idea of both, but advantage = G6 for now. I would love to see a cool Malibu SS, and hope it doesn't take the Maxx-only to get an SS. But the Malibu has now, and will apparently always have, 2 too many doors for me

Plus, the G6 just looks sweet to me.

Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?

G6 GTP for me. Malibu's style is a little too bland for me. (disclaimer: other cars in its competing segment also look too bland to me so its doing something right )

Personally, I would have liked to see that 270hp variant powering these cars but oh well....

Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?

G6 all the way. The Malibu sedans styling is too 'tall' for me. For some reason I kinda like the Maxx's look.....

But I really love the G6's look, the stretched wheelbase and agressively raked front and rear glass, very sporty and distinctive. My only complaint is the interior looks a tad dowdy, needs some aluminum of color matched components on the center stack.

Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?

I like this MAXX

If they offered a similar SS w/ a 6spd, I'd be very interested, assuming of course much of the styling carries over.
