Malibu SS for me.

There is a nasty rumor though....that the SS won't get the manual trans, eventhough it's G6 twin will. Anyone hear anything?
Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?
Malibu SS (sedan) < G6 GTP
Malibu SS Maxx > G6 GTP
I hate the new Malibu styling, but it isn't unfixable. The SEMA Malibu looked pretty slick IMO....
I think both of these will be overpriced, though.

Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?
I prefer coupes. Therefore, I'd take the upcoming 2-door GTP G6. I already have a family 4-door, I don't need another. Besides I'm a Ponti-maniac with a 94 Formula, a 98 Formula and an 04 GTP Grand Prix.
Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?
These are exactly the two cars up for grab to replace my wife's 2003 Grand Am GT coupe next year.
If the SS is available as a MAXX, then I think that will win, just because we plan on a family soon and it would be easier to carry stuff (plus I plan on a Solstice and will barely be able to bring home a gallon of milk in that thing).
Otherwise, the styling (and long wheelbase) of the G6 coupe wins out over the regular Malibu, even if fitted with SS trim.
And I don't think my wife wants another stick, especially if it is going to be a family car, so that isn't a major concern if it ins't available in the SS.
Ultimately it will be up the the wife and GM. The lease is out in 12 months - so there better be no delays of the 3900, but this is GM we're talking about.

Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?
I'd personally go for the G6 myself.. been waiting on this car for a while... but am I the only one disappointed with the 3.9L only making 240hp? Compared to a lot of the newer Japanese cars in this size range... thats a little low I think. Especially considering the displacment of the engine. Honda has a 3.0L, BMW a 3.0L, and Nissan a 3.5L. You'd think GM could at least match Nissan. Though it does out do BMW's 3.0L (if Pontiac is still going for that area at least) The price thing is no contest though. The Altima can have up to 260hp (though @ nearly $30K) Accord can have 240hp as well for around $27K. Perhaps I wouldn't be so annoyed if GM can keep the price down... say around $26k for either of the two.
I forgot, was the AWD idea dropped from the G6, how about the Manu-matic option(paddle shifters)?

Re: Malibu SS or G6 GTP?
Given the Malibu's lighter weight, it's already quicker when they're both equipped w/ the 3.5L 200hp engine. (*Only slightly) Also, has more rear seat room.
It bugs me that the G6 looks so much sportier, but really isn't. So, Malibu SS hands down.
