Reminds me of the name for Volvo V70, Cross Country was their VX70 or something like that, which was AWD version of the car, with raised suspension and better off-roading capabilities.

I was desperately looking for AWD in this Malibu, but seeing as it's just a performance edition, why label it "Cross Country"? Just call is SS, like everything else spewing out of GM.

 

i am tempted to say it looks somewhat close to the ss concept (on the nose that is)
