Crawled through one at the LA show, it really is a great car. They just need to get that interior to not feel so cheap (the Monaro spoiled me).

LOL!
You got $5k more to spend on a nice interior before you reach Cobra-land or GTO-ville if you want it!

The plastic console and hard door panels could be better to be sure, but then again, we want low-$ performance, right? The first doorpanels on the '65's were just high-grade cardboard with vinyl and trim stapled to it...

Have you listened to one running yet? Oh man, it's like the Cobra but a little louder and no whine. They did a great job of not silencing that distinctive Mustang rumble. It's not a 5.0 with Flowmasters mind-you, but it stirred the proper nerves in my soul.

The father-in-law of a buddy here at work just got his white Mach 1 two weeks ago... he ordered it last June. He told me he got 24mpg driving it the first week! No problems in the first 650 miles, and he LOVES it. The guy also has a '69 Mach. First 2 aftermarket options are already on... the "Cobra JET" emblems ala the '69-'70 model Shakers, and rear window louvers ala the same. Not a bad thing to say about his yet, except that it had salt under it at the dealers lot... don't know from transporting or somebody took ajoy-ride before he got there. The outside was cleaned-up and shiny though.

I refused a test drive. I'm not that strong. I may as well give the guy my checkbook if I test drive it.

[edit] Added this link to some real people's rides... not showrooms.

In honesty I'm not the biggest Mustang fan, however I must say I have nothing but respect for Ford and what they have done.
We as GM enthusiasts would be lucky to have half as much interest for our much maligned F-Body.
Special editions, blown Cobras, Bullets and Machs....
You Ford guys must not know what to do with yourselves

Good time to be a Ford guy.
Bad time, for us GM folk...

phantasm99, after 14 years of asking, pleading, and begging to get out of 2nd place...

I just hope it doesn't take 14 years (or 30 ) to get a worthy domestic ponycar brother back on the road in like fashion.

I agree, but I also would like to make this point...
The 5.0's 87-93 were admittedly the hot set up for the street.I even recall them being called the 57 Chevy of our time, especially with the aftermarkey support.Even to this day you see allot of 5 liter cars at the strip.By this time though they have been mostly transformed into all out drag cars.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though GM may have had more hp in 93+ form, the LX's of yore were still the way to go.
(Just for the record I had a Powerdyne blown 89 LX, previous to my Camaro of course )BTW do you remember the ad campaign "225 Horses Are Bound To Kick Something"?

I'm sure you will be able to correct me if I'm wrong, but after the demise of the 5liter cars there was talk of turning the Mustang into a FWD Probe style car.Public outcry was great and the SN95 was the end result.Slowly the Mustang was getting better and better, much emphasis placed on the slowly part. Finally the end result is a crop of Mustangs that are in short....Awsome.

Fortunately for the Ford enthusiast Mustang does not have to deal with contractual agreements and all of the other factors that have turned this situation into such a nightmare!

I don't want to trivialize your HP comments in regards to the Mustang, but al least you guys still have a pony car!!
Our beloved F-cars seem to have suffered a lingering death due to poor management, point being Ford listened and GM killed it.

I am sure Camaro will be back, it just sucks that it had to come to this.
