Zeta is supposed to be very 'flexible' from the standpoint of varying types of vehicles built off it.
The days of thinking that a car built on the same platform as Camaro is automatically a "rebadged Camaro" should be long gone.
In fact, Camaro will be the 'oddity' on the platform... I would expect the GTO to be more similar to the sedans that come off Zeta than Camaro.
In fact, if a new Monte Carlo does come off the Zeta platform... I'd expect GTO to be more like MC than Camaro.

I'm sick of all the firebird talk, as well as GTO's true heritage... Get over it ppl... Most of you weren't even born when the original GTO was around so get over it...
Maybe DELL should start selling 286/50's again...!

Yes I agree heritage is not important....I wonder where the designers came up with the Camaro concept.

Firebird GTO? Even GM isn't that stupid.

Re: Lutz wants a new GTO.
It's interesting that many of you are talking about Zeta as if the chassis is still under development - Well, the first model based on the Zeta is due out in about 6 months, so I'd suggest that it is pretty much a done deal now. Sure - sheet metal and interior designs for coupe and other non-Commodore versions may (and probably will) be still in a state of flux, but the underlying designs would have been completed and signed off a while back now.

Actually the orginal GTO's were 2 dr pillarless coupes. Rare was the GTO that was a 2 door sedan.

1967 GTO Sedan

Wrong!
The Grand Prix was all about muscle and being a coupe, since 1962. It was Pontiac's top of the line coupe. It's base engines were the GTO engines. Of course on the Grand Prix, you could also order a top dog 421, (later a 428). In some respects, the GTO was the poor man's Grand Prix.
See how fast you (and everyone else), got over the GP being a sedan.

Eh... I dunno...... I think you are reaching a bit on this.
Regardless of what engines it had at what time, I don't think Grand Prix was ever regarded as a muscle car........ certainly not in the legendary class of the GTO name.
If you ask someone to make a list of muscle cars, Grand Prix would show up around #387 or so, if at all....
