Doesn't give me much hope, for the future of the General, to have a European in there. 75 is like 55, in rich guy years, he'll be fine. He's probably in better shape than me at 35! It's hard for me to be optimistic about this. Just when things were getting good too. No disrespect to Mr. Forster, and obviously I hope he proves me wrong.

I think GM will be fine with Forester . In his mind , Bob has apparently accomplished what he set out to do ....and did a damn fine job of it too . I really think GM will continue to prosper . I no longer have the feeling "oh god , what can they screw up next" . Time to push the kids off on their own now
I mean ...as a company they cant be completely self reliant on a man thats 10 years past retirement age . At some point that guys gonna want to ...well ....retire
. And it certainly not like their just gonna go back to their old ways just because Lutz is gone

Relax - a bit of Euro influence won't hurt the General one bit. He'll be smart enough not to dick around with the truck line-up, and should maintain a Lutz-type influence over pass-car design and engineering.
The first clue is that it says "Bob's place on the board of directors". He's not on the board of directors.

What are you talking about? I knew enough to know, he'd do a damn good job for GM, which he's done, while many others thought otherwise! And excuse me, if I'm not exactly infatuated with Euro anything, nevermind influence in GM. And in fact, this is precisely what I was afraid of! I will always try to hold out hope GM will be fine in the long run, however I've seen about enough Euro-ness in this country, to make me want to puke! GM is an American company (BTW one of the things I love about it), how about we keep it AMERICAN, and leave the Euro to the Europeans! JMO.
