Re: Lutz discusses Solstice, future Halo vehicles for each brand

When I heard Lutz was coming to GM, I nearly pulled over to the side of the road and did backflips.

It takes more than one man to turn a company around.....but the thing is: he's changing the culture. And he's knocked down a lot of what I see as 'roadblocks'... (there's a couple more that need knocking down, by the way)

I remember that when he first got to GM, he spent his own money to buy stickers that said "SEZ WHO?" ...and would affix them to documents when the answer was "we can't do that" or "that's against policy" etc....

(ya GOTTA love that!)

In my opinion: he has the 'gut' to make decisions. There's a particular Chevy that didn't clinic real well....but, as I understand, he said he didn't buy the clinic results......gave the program approval....and the vehicle is doing very well in the market place.

(some of you hate it, but the numbers show it was the right decision to give it the green light...esp. with a smaller investment because it came off an existing platform....)

Sure do.. I think Bob Lutz is a valuable asset to GM, however I feel he needs to concentrate completely on North America first instead of "Global" needs since his influence here is most vital, after all NA is the biggest car market.
What are you thoughts on this?

My guess is SSR.... unless that was too early for him... but I think it falls into the timeline.

Ya or nay?

Either that, or my backup guess is Malibu Maxx.

HHR.. it's on the Delta Platform (Cobalt), it probably didn't clinic well since it was close to the PT in design, we here on this site (as a community) don't really like it and Lutz said "READ MY LIPS:" when he said it would be a success.. I'm sure he would only say that if he backed it from the get go.. (Am I right?)

Sheez, I suck.

I was going to guess HHR too (because of the initial reaction here, even), but I figured it was too early to say since it's only been out a few weeks...

I like Lutz for a number of reasons. He is sharp and matter of fact. His watch is starting to show up, and will continue to hit the marketplace. He has a sharp sense of humor and exceptional insight on a situation.

He's a rare combo of "car guy" and grasper of car business realities.
