LS9 is a go?

That the RPO for a the S/C 6.2L right? Supposed to replace the 427?

I was just reading M/T--yes I know they are the worst for rumours--but they were talking to a guy who worked at Chevy that said the next Z06 is goinig to be NA.

Might the 427 survive and populate other cars (ex CTSV, Camaro, GTO, G8)

Nobody said the LS9 would for sure be in the Z06, it will be the Blue Devil engine but that may be above the Z06.

You mean the 6.2 LS3? It is coming for the base Vette, and other projects.

No. I'm talking about the LS8. It was on the list of future engine RPOs posted some time ago.

I don't remember that one. I know there was a 6.3/6.4 that was supposed to be used in the C6 Z06, which we all know ended up w/ the LS7. But I don't recall the RPO code.

Funny you should bring this up. C and D recently quoted Bob Lutz saying the Blue Devil engine will be larger than 7 Liters. Did they misquote him? Did he mis-speak? Is the BD really going to have more than 7 liters? Inquiring minds want to know. http://www.caranddriver.com/dailyaut...nce-page2.html

Lutz won’t divulge engine details except to say the displacement of the new powertrain is greater than the pushrod 7.0-liter V-8 in the Z06.

That engine was also called LS7. Then they decided they could not get enough power out of 6.4L so they went to 7.0L

I think he said the output would be greater than the LS7 not the displacement. That would require a new block.

The article pretty clearly states displacement, not output.

You can get more than 427 cubes out of an LS1 style engine. It will require a different block, but the block architecture will still be primarily the same.

Isn't the LSX block just the cast iron equivalent of the LS7? If so, it is capable of over 500+ cubic inches as-is.

true but being cast iron it can have thinner cylinder walls than aluminum, thus allowing larger displacement than the LS7

All the block needs is a taller deck, and bam, yoiu can get more stroke out of it. Basic LSx block architecture doesn't have to change.

Please, do not believe anything C/D says because it is wrong or old information.
