Light Duty Diesel Engine?? GMT 900

I read awhile ago that GM may offer a light duty Diesel engine for the 900 pickups. (other than the duramax) Any word on this.

Does anyone have any details on the new Diesel?

If we are to see the motor by 2009, there must be some details already floating around.

I'm in the market for a new truck and I pull a travel trailer. A small diesel in a 1500 would be a perfect fit.

How old is that? Or is it a typo? GM doesn't have a 6.2L diesel. The 6.2L was replaced by the 6.5L/6.5L turbo, which was replaced by the 6.6L turbo Duramax...

Plus, that makes it look like the new one is larger, which would not be the idea for a light duty diesel. I thought the idea is that it could fit in a place similar to a small block or something like that. I'm thinking that image may be way old, but...

EDIT: OK, I'm a big moron. It says current 6.2L truck engine (meaning L92), not current 6.2L diesel.

That makes more sense, and that supports the idea that it will be close to a small block in size.

Are you guys talking about the upcoming light duty V8 that's as small as a Chevy smallblock?

Off the top of my head, I think it was around 5.0L, with something like 300hp and a mountain of torque - something like 460 ft/lbs.

Just going off of memory, might not be exact.

Anyway, I'd like to see this motor wind up in some cars too.

Yeah, I caught that (believe it or not, I hadn't even read all the way down to your reply when I noticed it in my post and edited it).
