Let's compare prices...

Let's compare prices...
These have to be advertised prices from dealerships.
Here's the most eye-opening one I have seen so far:
Chevrolet K2500 Silverado, crew cab Diesel w/ Allison - $30,000
Honda Ridgerunt, CD, leather, etc... - $29,500
Both at Art Moehn Chevrolet/Honda in Jackson.
The other one that blew my mind was a C1500 Silverado (most likely a stripped work truck) advertised NEW at $12,999.
WHOA! A Full-size pickup advertised at $12,999???? Darn, that's a bargain!

Yeah, that's pretty crazy.
I have only seen one Rigeline so far and that was about 2 months ago. I don't know who the hell is going to buy that thing. It will be interesting to see how it does after a number of months of being on sale.

Ridgeline production increase
May 20, 2005
Honda to increase Ridgeline production
Las Vegas, Nevada - Honda of Canada Manufacturing has increased the daily input of its new Ridgeline pickup truck, according to a report released by the Specialty Equipment Manufacturing Association.
Originally projecting 53,000 vehicles for fiscal year 2006, Honda is now reported to be on track to build 80,000 Ridgelines annually. The Ridgeline is the first four-door pickup to earn the U.S. government's highest crash test rating for frontal and side-impact crashes.

Re: Let's compare prices...
are people that braindead??
I hope the big 2.5 put this little "toy" truck in its place..
namely the Avalanche..put a side by side comparison..and see who wins..or like you said just a regular silverado..
what about the H3's? think that will compete in the 29K range?heck I will do the marketing..
" Take your pick..the 2005 Chevy [anytruck] that is built in a truck platform..(and have it pulling a trailer full of horses. concrete or whatever)
2005 Ridgeline..a truck built on a minivan platform..( and show soccermoms getting there kids in the minivan and passing is the Ridgeline in a supermarket parking lot.. )
you want a truck. get a truck, you want to think your getting a truck, go where the missus does her shopping.

Re: Let's compare prices...
That's strange. The 1500's I looked at were all well above 30k sticker and the lowest I could get one optioned the way I wanted was 31k. I dont know where in this area you could touch a diesel for 30k.

Re: Let's compare prices...
He's not talking sticker, he's talking advertised price. I purchased a brand-new 2004 Silverado last July for $19,000 after all the discounts/rebates. This truck stickered for just under $29,000. Plus I got a $500 Lowe's Gift Card to boot.

There's NO REASON to buy an inferior foreign truck in this market.

It's time to start comparing transaction prices. Call it our little contribution to GM's future.
Full-on K2500 diesel crew-cab with an Allison is a dead heat with a Japanese pseudo-truck.
Now, methinks I saw a well-equipped Impala advertised at $17,999 and an Accord V6 with leather at $25,000 - but don't quote me, I'm going off of memory. I don't think the Impala had leather, but still, $7,000 difference in what are basically direct competitors is just shocking.
If someone out there thinks they can justify a $7,000 price difference in the Accord, more power to them.

Re: Let's compare prices...
I've always been intrigued by the fact that you can get a 2wd, short bed, Silverado 1500, with 4.8 V8 and 5 speed for under $20K MSRP
For another $95 you can add a suspension package. And for another $100 a 3.73 axle ratio.
RWD, V8 and stick for the price of an econobox.

Re: Let's compare prices...
Now, just make the transaction price the sticker price, and GM has some real ammo for comparison ads on TV and in magazines.
Until then, the BDM (brain-dead masses) will continue to sniff and walk away when they see their first sticker in the dealer.
