LaNeve on POntiac's line-up: "It might just be one model".

You saw that whole point play out...ironically...at Pontiac.
Cut the Bonneville.... sales lost.
Cut the Firebird... sales lost.
Cut the Grand Am coupe till the G8 coupe was ready...sales lost.
When the F-body died, I predicted the sales of the Mustang would skyrocket. I was wrong...Sales rose slightly, by not anything that anything dramatic.
The bottom line is that people buy a car because they want that car. Only run of the mill family cars tend to be value shopped.
I would never buy a 2002 Firebird WS6 because I find it cartoonish and over the top. I wouldn't buy a Grand Prix GTP coupe because I'm not a fan of FWD. But I almost bought a GTO (dealer screwed that up).
Yes, GM needs to shed divisions. But GM needs to shed divisions that are the weakest, not. What they hope to gain sheeding it's 2nd biggest (out of 5) car division in North American makes no sense whatsoever to me.
..... unless it's payback for how the dealers have been trying to scalp potential customers and wreck the brand. In that case, I can oddly sympathize with them.
