Just saw my first new Camaro

Black, sounded like a V8 rumble, rolling by the front of my dealership on a MA dealer tag.

This is going to go down in the history of Jason about the same as the black '85 IROC sighting I had when I was 5. Goosebumps popped, heart rate elevated...wow...

I still know I'm gonna hate the inside, but man is that outside amazing...sorry, I know this is the wrong forum, but you guys are the only ones I like on here

NOTE TO GENERAL MOTORS:
Please, if you read this, do something with that interior ASAP. Ford Mustang's interior seems like a BMW by comparison. Even the Dodge Challenger's seems made of better materials or at least doesn't seem as cheesy. Perhaps adopt the interior from the "Black Camaro" concept, perhaps simply replace the hard plastic with soft materials, perhaps dispose of the cheap looking painted plastic and go to aluminum... even tasteful wood would be an improvement. Skip the normal endless comittee meetings, the charts, and the studies. Just do something with the damn thing.... please.

Thank you.

It is ok, you don't have to buy one

I haven't had a chance to sit in the new Mustang, but the Challenger I sat in didn't see to have a better interior.

I saw my first one last week... was sitting at a dealer. An Inferno Orange Metallic RS/SS.

Firsat one I've seen in person.... I have to say it is impressive in three dimensions after looking at pictures for so long.

I sat in a RS, I liked the interior

Maybe I was just so excited to see the car I didn't have time to look it over. Seemed pretty nice to me, nicer than just about every other new car I've been it.

In pictures it is much nicer than the Mustang and Challenger, but I've yet to see those two in person.

I agree, the car looks amazing in person, pics just don't do it justice.

Quoted because, well, it needs to be!!!

My issue isn't so much materials...hell, I haven't seen the final one, so the materials could be top notch!! The design just looks cheesy and stupid to me. The double-hump IP, the odd shapes and contours of the center stack...yick...

This car with a modern-themed interior would have already caused both of my Camaros to be up on eBay for sale/already sold. The way it looks now? Its better than the concept, but what wasn't? I'll still buy one...used

If GM wants to be the recipient of my money instead of an auction, it needs to be 110% wow, inside and out. We have the outside down...the inside is just bad. And I realize this is only my opinion, and it doesn't rank above anyone else's here...

But if I'm parting with $35 large for an SS, I have to love ALL of it. As a $20k, 2 year old used car, I can LOVE most of it and LIKE some of it...

Wow. For a second, I thought I wrote that.

The interior would definitely stop me from buying one. I'd be too embarrassed to let any passengers ride with me. Maybe the G8's interior could be swapped in without spending millions ...

I agree completely. It was AFTER I saw the new Camaro (and sat in one) at the car show that I gave up and concentrated my shopping on the G8. I wanted so much to like it. Words cannot describe my disappointment with the interior design.

I really don't get why they stayed w/ the concepts design for the interior. From day 1, the interior design was pretty much disliked to put it mildly. The final execution is dissapointing to say the least. It won't keep us out of 1 I don't think, but I hate it that the finished product is just so...odd looking. And the fonts in the speedo/tach cluster HAVE to go, that would be an easy fix for GM.

Have you sat in one yet? I wasn't a fan of the concept interior but the production car I sat in felt pretty good. I liked the dash with DIC in the center, USB port in the console, stereo is in a good spot.

GM could have went generic yet nice interior that many are now calling for, but that would have been criticized too. I'm glad they took a risk and gave us something fresh.

Now that I've sat in the car, and actually touched the interior...........

I've decided that I don't like the interior as much as I thought I would. I have accepted the fact that this is in fact an american muscle car and not some posh, lavish, diamond encrusted luxo cruiser.

But now that I've had a day or two to ponder it...........I really think GM could have done better with the Camaro interior. Sure it's kinda retro, but it does indeed look like a plasticy, painted styro-foam science project.

Just looking at pictures for so long, I really thought I was going to like the interior when I finally sat in the car..........but I'm pretty disappointed.

As I pointed out in another thread, I think my Trailblazer SS interior is WAAAAAAy better than the Camaro's interior. Ouch!

2010 Mustang interior, definitely a hit. The Challenger interior..........meh, even though it's just a re-badged charger/300 interior.........ya gotta admit, it still looks really nice compared to the Camaro.

But don't worry, I'm still going to buy one.

My wife and I MAY buy a new one, but I don't know for sure. I'm liking this car better, as a new car purchase for her instead of me, as a loaded $25,700 1LT non-RS than I am at a $35k loaded SS. Its just too damn ugly inside.

I never sat in a 3rd or 4th gen and thought, "man, is this ugly!" Even the '93-'96 Camaro dashes went over better than this! Its just not attractive...too many odd shapes, fonts etc. I don't ever remember the DESIGN of the 4th gen dash being hated by people...MATERIALS? Eh, maybe...but the design was fine.

This one seems to have a significant amount of detractors...on here, the car mags, etc. And actually, if you read a '97 review of the re-designed 4th gen dash, it was generally very well liked in the day...
