just as i suspected the toyota prius is junk
people that drive these cars think they are special, like they make the birds sing and the flowers bloom or some nonsense like that. personally i think this is kind of funny. my camaro and cavalier dont accelerate on their own and the brakes work GREAT. i drive cars that are proven to be both safe and reliable. did anyone hear of the Toyota tundra and tacoma frame failures. i hope people soon discover the truth about toyota soon start driving GM again. i want to see Toyota fail at world domination. i want to see GM rebound, go chevy.

read it, it is enlightening
the comments are unreal. Prius owners identify themselves with their cars so much that they rush it its defense and are angry that anyone would dare to even suggest that a beloved Prius can be defective! If the article said Chevy, the response would be "figures, american cars are terrible quality!" Some of the people that were nearly killed by their Prius still stand by Toyota because they've internalized the "Toyota is good, Domestic is bad" so much that they just can't bear to have this belief questioned.

Toyota responded to the acceleration problem in 2007 by recalling "faulty floor mats" that the company said could cause the gas pedal to stick. Another explanation from Toyota is simple driver error
"You get these customers that say, 'I stood on the brake with all my might and the car just kept on accelerating.' They're not stepping on the brake," says Toyota corporate spokesman Bill Kwong. "People are so under stress right now, people have so much on their minds. With pagers and cell phones and IM, people are just so busy with kids and family and boyfriends and girlfriends. So you're driving along and the next thing you know you're two miles down the road and you don't remember driving, because you're thinking about something else."
