Jim Queen podcast...interesting stuff.
Scott donated a package (consisting of airfare for two to Detroit, 2 nights in his Louis Chevrolet room, dinner out Friday, dinner cooked by Scott Saturday and tickets to the NAIAS) to the Corvette Museum for the auction that is part of the Camaro/Firebird Reunion they hosted in September. I was high bidder.

But, my money is on a sedan from down under first.
GM has a perfectly good 4 door coming out from OZ with various engine configurations including HP V8s.
The vehicle is designed to be US certified.
There was the Buick version that was axed.
All the Holden needs is a new bumper cover with the Pontiac grill.
GP dies in 08.
Holden has an excess capacity of about 40k units.
GTO dies in 07.
US Zeta will not be ready by 08.

Probably the reason this thread won't die is that GM has not figured out how to execute an affordable RWD platform, so how can we know if they don't know.
Guys like me spent more than two years working directly on the next-gen GTO and when it was cancelled/delayed, I left GM. I'd say that's putting my money where my mouth is, wouldn't you?
Unlike the dreamers in this crowd, I actually worked on the next-gen car (Zeta) for two years, so I might have a little bit more info than you. It is true, however, that I'm losing touch with my workmates as time marches on.

Dream on! There is no 2007/8/9 GTO (or Camaro) coming from GM. You saw something else entirely.
Evok, although we've occasionally had our difference of opinions, we have exchanged countless e-mails and ideas over the years... do you really think my critisisms has aimed at you?????
Nope.

Some of those posts sound like they're from rlsedition, Guy, and if so,I think that you're being incredibly unfair to him. His posts never struck me as being bitter. I've always found him to be straight shooter. JMHO.

).The point I made in that rant still stands. Although I'd still volunteer to buy the all the beer to sit down and talk with him all day about what happened with the old North American Zeta & GTO, he IS extremely bitter about GM. I've seen plenty of his posts that were way off base and was one of the people I had in mind when I started making "unless you are talking to the guys in the trenches...." comment regarding new information.
Because I didn't name people, I know Evok believed it was all aimed at him, and I know you based alot of your posts on what the fellow in question said you may have felt I was targeting you at times, which is why I made a point of sayings "other websites" when I said some things.
In all fairness to him, we all felt angry that GM killed of Zeta for NA. But I feel that if I knew almost immediately that NA Zeta wasn't cancelled, simply moved to a cheaper chassis (which Lutz and company confirmed within weeks) then I'm sure people who worked on the project knew it.
Not trying to be unfair, but I am going by his posts, and IMO he didn't know what was going on with the RWD program after he left despite indicating he did..... or he used his posts to continue sticking pins into GM.

Well, all I can say is that whenever I run across rls's posts, I read them with great interest. When he makes reference to the W-car, Zeta or GTO on anything that occured from Spring of 2005 and before - I consider it HIGHLY reliable.
Even his post 2005 posts are of great interest to me, if for no other reason, than hearing the POV of the former program manager for the GP GXP and GMX282 GTO. BTW, I think some of those posts which were quoted are pretty old. They may have been more accurate when posted, then they would be today.

Of course his posts were accurate when he was actually working on the programs, and indeed I also regarded him highly.
It's the attitude and inaccuracies after he "left" GM that I found myself saying "WTF is up with this guy?" as I read posts, that to be polite, had nothing to do with what was going on. Coat it all with the "GM is FUBARed, and will never get their act together" disposition, and it's as if the guy did a 180, and he stopped being a source for me.

You've made me go back and read his last 300 or so posts on LS1GTO.com . Honestly, it was probably the most interesting internet reading I'v done in a loooong time. Even going back over a year, his comments were quite accurate on things that we KNOW TODAY, and his opinions provide good insight.
If anyone wants an informative primer on the going ons of Zeta, GTO and just generally the vehicle developement process, as it happens at GM - a search of rlsedition's posts, is recommended reading.

I need to chime in on the subject of rlsedition. As he has posted publicly, he has retired from GM back sometime around April of 2005. I have read through all of his posts since he started posting and once in a while communicated with him in private. I respect his point of view and if it comes across that way, his frustrations with General Motors.
General Motors, for the real people that work there, can be the most frustrating place in the world to work particularly for people that care about the product. His posts need to and do reflect that and I for one fully appreciate that perspective from him.
There is nothing more frustrating at GM then trying to get a program pushed through and have it axed and sent back to the drawing board for either cancellation or another dynamite and rebuild.
His posts help to illustrate how dysfunctional GM's, product development and product planning group can be.
His posts also are a history lesson of all that was and still maybe wrong with GM. Only time and consistently delivering world class product will alter the inside or outside view of GM.
There are very few of us that post on these boards with that perspective. That perspective is having a first hand personal impact on the product and knowing what it takes to get that to "maybe" happen. rlsedition is one of those people. For these reasons cited I respect his opinion and viewpoint into GM.
At this point, as far as I am aware, he has been retired from GM for going on 2 years. His posts reflect his views and knowledge of GM up until that point. At this point, I take his only interest in GM as a fan and someone that wants GM to succeed so he can collect what is owed to him by GM.
It is just so easy from the outside to say what GM should do. It is another thing to actually be there.

BTW, I hear that rls is currently working with Koni.
