Man that was a low blow. Really have something. I think a car under 35k that has 390hp is doing something.. I might be wrong though. Ford must be half way doing something to outsell the mess out of the Camaros. And don't say that it is all because of v6 mustangs being sold. I checked the number for 2000 myself and might get some more years numbers too. In 2000 65k Mustang GT's were sold alone. In 2000 a total of 35-40k Camaros were sold(this includes the v6,z28,and SS). The GTs alone outsold all the camaros. Plans are already in place for a 400+hp na mustang. Heck ford is selling the 5.0 "Cammer" engine already, it has bigger bore and pistons than the 4.6L thus making it to the 5.0, and has 425-435 horsepower, with sohc and 4-valves per cylinder. I think Ford is holding their own. And I hope because GM gave up on their f-bods, ford doesn't give up on the mustang.

Cars with better quality outsell cars that have worse quality. Even if he meant that. My family has had Fords for over 20 years never with a single problem out of them, but that is what happens when you take car of a car.

Best quality cars I ever had were my Mustangs, especially my 1985 5.0. The worse car I ever owned quality wise was an 81 Mustang I6 I bought for my wife at the time.

It isn't always how you take care of your car. It's how it's manufactured as well.

Quality wise, GM is marginally better "NOW". Both could use some much needed improvements. Going by stats, polls, studies, a quote off a news article, etc... GM has always been second to Ford in the past in reliability, durability, and quality. Infact, one article said "Ford had a comfortable lead over GM & DC" up intill now.

I am not trying to make anyone mad. I just hate when people take cheapshots. Do you think the public is dumb enough to buy millions of pieces of junk. If Ford or GM had bad quality they probably would not be around today.

Both Manufactures make good car and good quality, but anytime you mass produce something their is always going to be problems.

I always thought of Ford and GM as always about equal in the quality.

Did anyone notice Bob Lutz's supposed response in there???

"Most people that know me know that I love classic design and themes....but this car like your Thunderbird...well...quite frankly BLOWS! Good luck! My designers here in Warren could design a better sports car with crayola crayons and fat dry erase markers. See ya in 2004!"

LMAO!

This is about 60% down the page btw.

Where in the world does Bob Lutz get that the Thunderbird is a sports car? It is a sedan, family type car. I think it is funny he thinks it is a sports car. I think J. Mays was just trying to get a little laughs out of that, and they come back talking crap about Ford cars. That shows alot of character right there. J.Mays should have said you might could design one but could you sell it for a decent profit? I mean really. Mays didn't take no cheapshots about cheverolet cars. He was in it for giggles. And apparently Lutz wasn't. I just lost respect for Lutz.

C'mon, do you really think that post really came from Bob Lutz? Any jerk behind a keyboard can pretend to be whoever he wants to be on the internet...

As far as my comment about Ford quality, no I don't really look at it as a low-blow. Ford has very obviously made a commitment to just out-power everyone. Obviously a noble cause for enthusiasts like us, but as us F-body enthusiasts learned power isn't everything. They can trumpet their power all they want but when the quality problems keep coming up it isn't going to help very much. That's all I really meant to say.

GM only

IZ28, you are not alone. I have always had GM with no problems. I'm a long time Bowtie fan, that isn't going to change. Its been said , my blood is not red, but Chevy Orange instead.

SCNGENNFTHGEN- Me and my family, the same as you but different, have been long time Ford owners with no problems. I am not a diehard Ford fan. I like all cars that are nice and fast regardless of make, model, or how much they costs/worth.

There are some Fords I like (67-68 Mustangs & Cougars), and a few others. Long live the rivalry. Chevy vs. Ford vs. Mopar. What I don't like are Imports, and I never will.
