Thumbs up Interesting new sparkplugs (that makes no spark!)

This was on TV tonight in Australia. If you want to see a demonstration of how this new type of spark plug works check out http://www.abc.net.au/newinventors/txt/s1128892.htm as it has a short video on how it works and some info. You can also go to the Greenfire site @ http://www.greenfire.com.au/main.htm (it is a bit basic but has plenty of good info!) as it has more info and patent stuff.

Here is a quote from the Greenfire site.
Greenfire's technology (fitted as a screw-in device) for contemporary engines

Greenfire introduces flames to the combustion process via small venturi passages. The flames' extent of fuel ignition is greater than a spark.

This is conceptually different from a spark, so its ability to burn more fuel is different and greater.

RESULT: All engine functions are normal and the the flames' impact means:

Polluting emissions drop dramatically, even without a catalytic converter as reductions are from the engine, not the tailpipe.

Torque is increased and more power is delivered

Greater control of burning occurs.

Catalytic converter does not need to work as hard.

CONCLUSION: This is good for engines both past and present, and makes alternate fuels more viable, as it also burns these fuels more easily and cleanly.

Thumbs up

If that can live up it's claims... that's freakin' awesome. I am all for increased performance AND better for the environment.

Hot diggity. I love new ideas outside the box. I hope it works. What about spark blow out commonly found on forced induction motors does it stand up to F/I engines?

So, how does it create the flame front if it's not a spark? What other ignition modifications need to be made?

I was thinking the same thing earlier. I wonder if it'll work in my turbo'd car.
