Industry sales figures for 1st three months of 04
I just saw this over at Cheers and Gears. Y'all may find some interesting info here - answers to some questions I've seen posted here. Seems Camaros are still selling...

Intresting numbers. Some items that really surprised me:
1. The PT Cruiser & Neon are selling in nearly identical numbers, and are DCX's best selling vehicles behind the Ram and Dodge Caravan.
2. RWD Crown Vic and Mustang are the only Ford brand cars with sales increases. The Focus seems it went into a freefall.
3.Ranger (they still make those?) saw it's sales drop by over 25%.
4. Lincoln LS is now only selling about 60% of the number Cadillac CTS does.
5. Chevy sold more of the old Malibu (the Classic) than it did the new Malibu.
6. Corvette outsells Lincoln LS.
7. Chevy sells more "limited production" SSRs than Toyota sells "regular production" Celicas: 3069 to 2608.
8. The "old, boring, & uninspired" Impala outsells the "new, & exciting" Grand Prix by almost a 2 to one margin.
9. Cavalier alone came within a whisker (about 900 cars) of outselling Saturn's entire line combined, even with about a 2000 car sales drop this period.
10. Chrysler's Pacifica sales are exploding.

Like someone mentioned, Impala is cleaning up on everything else except for the vaunted Camry, and even then, it's catching up....pretty amazing....

Good to see Impalla sales keep going up and up, and I cant wait for the redesign. Then it will be better in and out. Its the last car to come from the Revolution, and nothing will cap of the Revolution then a top selling sedan to get better. I figure that the revised Impy will get Lutz-style interior(thank you Lutz), along with a some serious options to keep up with the best. Give the base motor to the 3.5, and the top motor to the 3.9 and maybe an SS using a blown version of 3.9? It would probably make 300hp easy, and keep the V8 for Pontiac I guess.
And I cant belive that Focus sales are in a tailspin, even after they finaly got all the bugs worked out. When there was everyone buying it, they had recalls out the rear, but now when no one wants it, its got a clean bill of health. Man, Cobalt is gunna wipe the floor with the Focus.

The Focus got redesigned, that might have something to do with it, but who knows. Also, the turbo'd Focus isn't out yet, but be patient, it's coming! Then we'll see how it stacks up with Cobalt SS. I have to say that the Cobalt SS is a nice looing car, that should get it some sales over the Focus (though I like the Focus too).

The GTO only selling 1,800 units may not be as bad it appears since the 18,000 that are slated for import would be spread out over the entire year and these sales are from the lowest traditional sales months for performance cars, so maybe supply and time of year have something to do with the numbers - not to mention unscrupulous dealers raping buyers ---- oops, I mean imposing modest price markups.
It's very good to see the Impala selling so solidly... but such good numbers probably don't bode well for a return to rear wheel drive any time soon.

It would be nice(for Ford) to have the Focus on that Mazda 3 platform. I think that car will be the king of the low end, entry sedans. A lot of zoom zoom. And when is this turbo Focus coming out? Not from SVT? SVT has given up on the Focus didnt they?
