I will be real surprised if we see these trucks in California anytime soon due to the difficulty of all auto manufacturers meeting the current and future emission standards for diesel engines mandated by the C.A.R.B.

All the trucks will be powered by a four-cylinder common-rail diesel paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. M&M promises fuel economy between 28-35 miles per gallon and has teamed up with Bosch and Michigan-based AVL to develop clean diesel technology to meet tough U.S. emissions requirements.
Sounds like they've thought this through a bit.

Joe, Mahindra actually does some pretty good engineering work, and I don't see anyone else stepping up with a diesel and six-speed auto in the compact truck market.

The orange truck looks like it's an early 90's tocama morphed with a ranger and the bed looks like a total throwback to early 80's datsun....

not a very "pretty" truck.

There's definitely a "hole" in the market for small trucks that was left by everyone but ford and mazda upping to a "midsize." But those trucks haven't been redesigned in about 20 years!

Mahindra all ready sells tractors in the US, and they aren't bad.

Hmmm... thanks for the info. I admittedly know nothing about the company. Perhaps they should spend some coin (rupees?) and have Pininfarina or some other styling firm work on the appearance of the truck. In that pic, it really looks to me like one of those Chinese knockoffs.

BTW, If they have any rupees leftover, maybe they can loan me some, as I am running low on the red potion and arrows.

With that fuel economy 28/35 I think it might do ok. Especially for those that just want a basic work truck. That powertrain would be great in a Colorado. I wonder what the curb weight for this India truck will be.
