It's only that if you want it to be.
That ship has already sailed....and I have a hunch that those decisions have already been made.

Why don't we kill all birds with one stone and make it into a Z28 vs. Z-28 vs. Z/28 vs. SS vs SVT vs. Cobra vs. Mustang vs. GTO thread?

Call me crazy, but I liked the early 90s when everything at Chevrolet was a Z. Z28, Z26, Z24, Z35, Z71....and today we have Z06.
I say give each car its own distinct ZXX RPO code and that should be the performance model or package. SS should be more of a trim/appearance package.
By Chevy's own SS dominance paradigm, the "Blue Devil" vette should be the Vette SS.

(unless we get to include the Mustang II and the Monza in the fray...

SVT does strange things sometimes. The SVT Focus was actually one of their best sellers. I actually own one of those also (2 door). It's probably the best handling car that has rolled off of the SVT line. It was never meant to be a powerhouse like the SRT-4. Of all the recalls that affected the Focus, not one affected the SVT Focus. Other than the body and a couple of other parts, it's a completely different car than the regular Focus. I do admit that SVT went too far with the 4 door version though. Ultimately I believe the SRT-4 cut into the sales of the SVT Focus. Anyone else remember the SVT Contour? It was only made for two years. Everyone I've talked to that has one loves it. That's pretty much the same with the SVT Focus. SVT is doing away with the Focus because they want to use a new chassis/engine combo. They feel they will get more out of the new combination and I have a feeling they will.

SVT doesn't really do anything strange. They are given a budget, have quite a bit of autonomy, and produce some great cars & have a great support network. If Chevrolet would run & market their SSs cars the way Ford does their SVT, SS would be one hell of a brand.
Instead, Chevy is pimping the SS line for volume & and on every model they can stick the name on.

That's one of my favorites...and I forgot it.

Actually the SVT Focus wasn't selling that great. The Contour SVT was also a great car, and on the surface one would think popular, but it wasn't.

I understand they have a budget and all, but they do strange things to ME, lol. I understand why they dropped the Focus, but seems to me they could have produced an AWD version of it that was turbo'd to compete with the SRT-4 and STi/EVO crowd. If it was in their budget to do so...
