IMHO - there will be no future camaro SS

dont hang me just read.

with chevy now useing the SS on the top level model ofalot of it's cars (IE) silverado SS,Monte SS,Cobalt SS,Impala SS,ASTRO VAN SS,...jk about the astrovan SS. ...

Im in no hurry for a Camaro SS to Drop!! ...i know there bad *** and all i love them 2 . but if camaro comes back.. I wouldent want SS to be the Top of the line Camaro... i would want Z28 to be the top Dog ..thats just my opinion...

SS is just really overused now in my opinion

ALSO! .... how pissed off would all you camaro SS owners be if the astro van or the aveo came in SS TRIM?
i could see that happening :FEAR:

Of course there will be a Camaro SS. "SS" is/will be a Chevy- wide performance and trim upgrade on many Chevy vehicles....including Camaro.

I expect Camaro SS to be the volume Camaro performance model.

BTW, they're already talking about an Aveo SS.

i have to agree that the SS moniker is way overused. fine, its chosen to be the "performance" moniker for Chevy. But how can you fully respect it with an Aveo SS in the SS bag? you can't. its not the same as Ford's SVT which for the most part does excellent work. nore is it like the Dodge SRT moniker. all of the SRT badges come with serios power/performance. the same should be true for the SS. when people see an SS badge it should instill instant respect. putting SS badges on an Aveo is not the way of getting it done....

Arn't there already a 1000 threads argueing about SS vs. Z28

I like the idea of using Xtreme for the lower end non-V8 cars.

Although one of the reasons the SVT focus was dropped was due to not so great sales, it was also in part due to it watering down the SVT line. That would explain why the upcoming sporty focus (turbocharged i hear) won't be carrying an SVT badge.

But it seems like SVT's priorities and SS"s priorities are quite different.

I find it intertesting that Ford dropped the SVT Focus. Too me it didn't water the line down, but expanded. However, I do believe the SVT ZX-5 focus did water down the line. A five-door focus is not a sports car.

SVT does strange things sometimes. The SVT Focus was actually one of their best sellers. I actually own one of those also (2 door). It's probably the best handling car that has rolled off of the SVT line. It was never meant to be a powerhouse like the SRT-4. Of all the recalls that affected the Focus, not one affected the SVT Focus. Other than the body and a couple of other parts, it's a completely different car than the regular Focus. I do admit that SVT went too far with the 4 door version though. Ultimately I believe the SRT-4 cut into the sales of the SVT Focus. Anyone else remember the SVT Contour? It was only made for two years. Everyone I've talked to that has one loves it. That's pretty much the same with the SVT Focus. SVT is doing away with the Focus because they want to use a new chassis/engine combo. They feel they will get more out of the new combination and I have a feeling they will.

I think we can finally stop comparing SS to SVT. They are completely different strategies.

SVT....afew vehicles.
SS.....many different vehicles.

SVT....limited volume.
SS.....high volume.

SVT....highest performing Ford products.
SS....not necessarilly highest performing Chevy products.

I see what GMPD did with the CTSV as more in line with SVT's philosophy.

With the exeption of the overpriced Silverado SS,...... I see Cobalt SS, Cobalt SS Supecharged, Impala SS, MC SS, Malibu Maxx SS, Camaro SS.....and yes....even if they do an Aveo SS as affordable, broad appeal performance products from Chevrolet.

I'm pretty sure there will be a Camaro SS, hopefully as a loaded performance model. I just hope it's not the top all-out high or special performance model which is what the Z28 should be.

I agree, there is no similarity between the SS badge and the SVT badge. However, Ford will be introducing ST badged vehicles which I believe will be VERY similar to the SS badged ones we see coming from GM.

Call me crazy, but I liked the early 90s when everything at Chevrolet was a Z. Z28, Z26, Z24, Z35, Z71....and today we have Z06.

I say give each car its own distinct ZXX RPO code and that should be the performance model or package. SS should be more of a trim/appearance package.

By Chevy's own SS dominance paradigm, the "Blue Devil" vette should be the Vette SS.

Why not the return of the Z28 SS like SLP used in 96-97. Or like the RS SS or RS Z28 from the late 60's Camaro's. There the RS was used to designate trim level while Z28 and SS designated the model.

Right on! Ford's ST and GT corrolates perfectly with Chevy's SS. SVT is a whole other ball game.
