I believe a little bit of both.... china has their own brands, and I believe a few brands are already making factories there as we speak...

I thought China didn't have any brands that were purely "Chinese." I watched a show on PBS about China and they said that China decided to let foreign companies come into China to build cars for their market so that they would not have to worry about "learning the trade."

i think that's a bit optimistic on the time projection. they might be open to sell them here, but i doubt they will actually be baught in any great numbers. They have to open up store fronts (remember Deawoo?) and back up their product with quality. quality of manufacture is something these cars are going to lack BIG TIME if they are made using "cheap" (not well trained) labor. they are going to be the Hyundai of the 2000's. fast forward another 10 years from now, and i'd say chinese built cars will actually have a pretty good presence here.

The quality will depend on how hard they whip the workers...

i forgot where I read this article, but BMW has a plant in China making 5 series.. and they drove it around, and it was very well built.....

anyways, this my main beef about globalization... It averages out the world.. but for countries like the US, this average can drastically lower our quality of life... "Competition can be brutal"

They should be out of business in no time.

Don't the Mexicans work for about the same as the Chinese?
