If you had an hour with Scott Settlmire What would you ask him?
Re: If you had an hour with Scott Settlmire What would you ask him?
I spoke w ith him for a good 40 minutes at the F-body Gathering 7 in Atlanta a few years ago. I think it was 2003. All we talked about was the fourth gen. Actually specifically the blue beast with the 427 in it that was all over the internet. Very cool guy and he REALLY knows EVERYTHING there is to know about them. It was funny too. We talked about the ZL1's that GMMG made, and the one regret that he had was the lack of T-tops on those cars. You could only order them with the hardtop.
He even pointed out the top brace in the race car, saying that was PLENTY of structural rigidty for the T-tops.

Well I’ve been lucky enough to be able to schedule an interview with him this after noon for a school project.
I've got a good list of questions; I'm just trying to think if there is anything I missed.

I don’t think that one will do me too much good since I’m meeting him at the Fort Worth Auto show (NO Camaro)
Re: If you had an hour with Scott Settlmire What would you ask him?
I'd ask him if the firebird is dead for good or on a "hiatus" like the camaro. I know it's a pontiac product, but it has ties to camaro so it wouldn't be off-topic exactly.
Maybe it isn't much of a question, and the answer might even be on this board somewhere and discussed already, but it's something that's been going through my head since 2002. I've never owned a firebird, but i've always liked it more for whatever reasons, and would like to see it return. I think there's a higher chance i'll buy a 5th gen if a firebird is offered.
So my question would be "Is there hope for a 5th gen firebird?". His message to camaro faithfuls this whole time has been "keep the faith", is there a similar message for firebird faithfuls?

I'd ask them why they bother to put out a car when they can't beat their competitors in a majority of points people look at?
If they can't truthfully say the GM car gets better gas mileage, has better HP, is priced cheaper, has a better saftey rating, tows more, has more cargo space or whatever that segment is compared on then why not go back to the drawing board till it does beat it's competitor in most every category.

Ask him what kind of chance there is for a hybrid Camaro with the 5th gen.
BMW is doing performance hybrid with the same 2 stage hybrid system GM uses, so why not a Camaro?

It's not really a question for Scott, just a comment. I wish the other GM brands, such as my favorite, Buick, had somebody who was as knowledgeable and dedicated for them as he is for Chevrolet and the Camaro. Unfortunately, it seems as though the position of General Manager of Buick, for example, has been like a revolving door in recent memory, with no one to stand up for Buick like Scott has stood up for the Camaro.
