If they still made 2002 F-cars, would you buy a new one today?
Re: If they still made 2002 F-cars, would you buy a new one today?
I seriously considered buying one last year. A local dealer still had a "new" Z28 M6 convertible and for a moment I was tempted to buy it. (Its a good thing I already had three Camaros, otherwise it might have happend.) What stopped me from doing so were the price, the fact that I'm saving for a new car purchase in 07-08, and my wife.

The exact same car, no way.
If it had the LS2, an interior freshining, and a revised exterior(on the scale of the 97 vs 98 T/A), then I would buy one if I could.
In a way I don't want them to build a new Camaro, cause then mine would look dated because I have the old bodystyle.
JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!! The 4th gen has a timeless look that people still stare at after 12 years.

Re: If they still made 2002 F-cars, would you buy a new one today?
Yes! Perhaps there is some emotional attachment there - my father's '99 Z/28 was the first really fast car I'd ever been in (first for him too for that matter). Beyond that though, $23,000 is still a bargain for what you got on a stripped Z/28. I would only buy stripped because I think adding luxuries to the 4th gen was sort of money wasted - a $30,000 SS with leather and power everything still felt like an econocar inside, so you might as well get it for econocar prices.
The bottom line is that 3 years after this car was canceled, in the midst of the biggest performance era since the 1960's, there is still nothing within $10,000 that can go toe to toe with a 2002 Camaro Z/28 (used to be nothing within $20,000). To me, that was the key - it was a car built with the singular purpose of going fast. I would say it was even more purpose built than a Corvette (save the Z06 and Z51).

Not a chance. Never liked them much.
If I was given one I'd sell it and maybe buy another 3rd Gen or a pro street 1st Gen.
Or maybe save the money for a 5th Gen.

When I drive by that dealership and look at it, I realize how awesome 4th gen cars look.
And to this day I still would consider buying that car new (if I had the money...)
Re: If they still made 2002 F-cars, would you buy a new one today?
No for me.
I bought the the first 4'th gen I ever saw on the dealers lot back in 93. I'm not going to spend 25-30K on the same car I drove 12 years ago.

Re: If they still made 2002 F-cars, would you buy a new one today?
No.... and I loved my 99 Z28.
And it has nothing to do with the layout or configuration... simply the lack of quality of materials used compared to other offerings today.
As an example, my GTO's interior makes my 99 Z28 feel like it was made out of old egg cartons and wet paper bags.
Now, I loved the layout, and seating position of my Z28... but the materials weren't even in the ballpark to be competitive with even other GM products at this point in time.

I'd buy one. I tried to buy one new but alas the last one had rolled off the assembly line and couldnt get one new or slightly used without a jacked up price by those "innovative" dealers.
But if they still made them, yes I'd have one now

I don't know if I'd buy a new model brought out of mothballs after 3-4 years. While I love my '98 Z, there's so many fresher designs out there that I think I'd be happier with laying down near $30K for a new vehicle.
