LSx based V8's suck.
I think you totally missed my point

But evidence indicates exactly that. Forget about assumptions.

A simple analysis says indicates that V8s have more friction than a V6 of the same displacement, due to more moving parts and a higher surface to volume ratio in the cylinders.

Now, test that simple analysis to see where new engine designs are heading. 300hp V6s are being / have been introduced by several companies. New V8 designs are mostly well over 300hp, especially when you exclude trucks.

Back to the original point of this thread...

Are the insiders inferring that there will be no more Zetas basing that on the Oshawa plan?

The new article that appeared today (from a Toronto newspaper I think) indicates that the Buick and Caddy Zeta will be built in Michigan.

So does that mean that Buick and Caddy will have Zetas after all -- just not built in Oshawa?

Why, is 3 series/SN95 Mustang sized, too sporty for a Camaro? What you say makes no sense to me.
And don't count on Pontiac getting anything like that.

Camaro is the only Zeta at Oshawa right now - maybe ever. And I think there is alot of speculation in the story about Zetas being built at the Sigma plant.

We had one! One of my earliest childhood memories was when my dad traded in his V8 Olds, for a 2 year old I4 Tempest. I was four years old and as he was backing it out of the dealership I was in the back seat, crying and screaming hysterically, "this car sounds funny, I want our old one back".

That Tempest turned out to be lemon. To this day, my dad tells me that he should have listened to me.

We had an SN95 Mustang and a 3 series. Great "little" cars, but too small for me. I'm a large man and need to be comfortable when I drive.

Besides a 3 series sized Chevy already exists, its just FWD. (i.e. Malibu). For Chevy to have two products who's only main difference is FWD vs. RWD doesn't make much business sense. (Does BMW sell a FWD vehicle the same size and price range as the 3 series?) Malibu is priced right were we'd expect Camaro to be if it were available today, minus the top dogs of course.

Weren't you also a fan of AWD? Would a AWD Malibu LTZ be of intrest to you then? Seems to me that would be a better argument for a 3 series competitor with a bowtie on it.

As for my remark on Pontiac, it definitely makes sense. Was it not less than two years ago there was talk on these boards of making Pontiac GM's version of BMW? I still believe that's a viable idea. Heck the grillwork is similar anyway. I'd bet you could get a lot of crossover shoppers who like the looks and comfort of the Beemers, but want to buy American. Seems to me we could build a case for a matching Pontiac product across the board. Heck they already have the Solstice, the G8 and the Torrent. They just need a 3-series size coupe and sedan, a bigger crossover SUV, and a halo car to be get there.

I believe you're correct, but as I recall, they didn't sell in large numbers. Kind of like the early 3rd 4 cyl. gen fbodies.

Hey, I've got some midlife girth going myself, but if you're that big, where a 3 series is cramped to you, maybe it's time to hit the gym/go on a diet, rather than want the Camaro to be a couch on wheels.

Just saying...

BTW, the last 3 series I drove, (a 335i Coupe), had 4 grown men in it very comfortably - even the two in back.

You're right! However the issue is that being an ex-football player and in my 40's the knees don't bend like they used to. I even have problems crawling in and out of my 4th gen and its a land yacht compared to the M3 or the SN95 Mustang we used to own.
