If Camaro is brought back, is it suppost to be FWD or RWD ?

Lemme see....it was either Jim Perkins (former General Manager of Chevrolet....always drove a Black Camaro as company car, by the way) or John Heinricy (Chief Engineer of Camaro/Firebird) that one time said that the ugliest thing they could ever imagine is the "smoke coming from the front tires of a Camaro doing a burnout...."
The very DNA of Camaro/Firebird says:
>Rear Wheel Drive
>Muscular V8
>Class leading acceleration
>Class leading handling -- esp. on skidpad
>must LOOK like a Camaro/Firebird
>must do this at a Chevrolet/Pontiac price........
so........keep the faith friends (for the 1,832,465th time........)
One last thought about Jim Perkins.....remember the picture of the 1999 Hugger Orange Z28 with a 1969 Hugger Orange SS behind it....catalog shot? ...well....that 1969 is Jim's...he allowed us to use it in the photo shoot. Look closely at the front license plate....California RM-227 .....was the actress Karen Ballantine's car back in 1969...she was the star of the TV show Room 227. Just a bit of Camaro trivia............now I'll shut up............and crawl back under my rock...............

. Oh, and while I haven't heard much (un)official word on what the new Z06 motor will be, I've heard rumours of anything from ~450 to ~500 HP

.....um, Mr. Ford
.........what the hell just happened to your Cobra?!
Re: If Camaro is brought back, is it suppost to be FWD or RWD ?
Hey Capn Pete, My dealership is not an SVT dealer because it's to small so I have not heard anything about what happend to the Cobra. Please LMK.
Re: If Camaro is brought back, is it suppost to be FWD or RWD ?
Nothing actually "happened" to the Cobra
. I was just joking, saying that (IMO) the new Camaro (with the LS2, but especially if it had the next Z06 engine) should be able to blow the doors off the Cobra

Oh ok, I was just wondering because one of my buddies at the dealership has a friend with a new 04 Cobra and he said it already has a blown motor in it. So I was thinking maybe there was more to you're comment.

They are wise enough to know that without competition, automotive companies tend to stagnate on keeping up with their vehicles, and the F-body brought out some very incredible Mustangs the past 10 years.
It's also likely the F-body played at least a supporting role in keeping the Probe from being the Mustang back in the late 80s.

Good points! Had the tables been turned, and the Mustang got dropped while F-bodies were still around, it would be sorta like winning a game against a team that just forfeited......there's no real sense of "victory". Competition is a good thing, and now that Ford stepped up their Mustang (in particular, the Cobra) with a hi-po engine, it's a good target for GM to aim at when building the new Camaro!
