Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

Apparently not. It will be sold as FWD only, with 270 HP and 6-speed manual. It looks like AWD will not be offered on Pontiac epsilon at all.

Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

Epsilon II will have AWD ability, but that is some time down the road.
The G6 GXP getting AWD was a rumor, and there was no real evidence of it going to happen.
I think the G6 GXP would do great against the Altima, if priced right.

Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

I'm looking for a daily driver to replace my Camaro until 08, but I want AWD. I think the current Legacy GT is underpowered, so I wanna wait for the Legacy STi. Mazdaspeed 6 looked promising, but it's basically FWD with transfer during a slide and it's heavy. I was really hoping the G6 GXP with AWD would do the trick. Back to shopping.

What kind of time frame are we looking at for an AWD Epsilon II Al?

Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

The G6 could be fitted with AWD right now if GM so desired. It is set up for it. Also, the G6 GXP is only in concept form at the moment.

The G6 GXP will hit the market, you can't deny that fact.

If it's setup for AWD already, why not have it as an option?

Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

While the G6 is nice its becomes expensive when you start adding options/packages and AWD would make it as expensive as a GTO.

A standard G6 (NON-GXP) sells for around $26,000 so a loaded GXP with AWD would easily be in the low $30,000's.

Why does GM do half of the things they do? I'm not the one to ask.

Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

Not having an AWD option on the G6 was a mistake IMHO

Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

How is it a mistake? I dont see the Altima's sales in the crapper. I dont see the Mazda6 failing in the market place without AWD?
There are many things that are mistakes with the G6, not having AWD aint one of them.
G6 with standard 3.5 starts at 23k, not 26. There will be a lower 2.4 4cyl model, as well as a 3.9 model.

Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

I think its a big mistake...I was counting on AWD to give the car an equal playing field with an EVO, an STi, etc. You know, cars Pontiac MIGHT just want to compete with??????

This is really an asinine decision. I like the G6, very much actually. But the GT is a little too watered down to be a real sports model. GTP with a 6 speed will help that a ton, and GXP will go even further. But to be world class, AWD is not an option...its mandatory. Good move Pontiac...

And will people STOP complaining over the price of a G6????????? Have we not re-hashed this 30,000 times now??? A $26k G6 is a GT model with a panoramic roof (aka a $1,500 hole in the roof!!!), On-Star, 6 CD monsoon, chrome wheels, power everything etc. The car is a lot of things, but overpriced is NOT one of them!! To wit, a $23,900 GT has power everything, ABS, 17" wheels, Monsoon etc. standard. That is a perfectly fine price for a car in that class....

Re: I thought the G6 GXP.....

Base G6: $21,300
Loaded G6: $26,100
Base GT G6: $23,925
Loaded GT G6: $27,835

Any questions?

Mazda, Ford, Subaru, Mitsu, VW, DCX and others are offering or are going to offer AWD in this segment. Why be the last one to the party? Just because Nissan isn't doing it yet?

The original G6 concept had a 285HP Supercharged 3.5L pushrod V6 with AWD. That is exactly what GM needed to compete with the very popular Evo, WRX, STI, and MazdaSpeed 6. AWD then could have been offered on the regular models as a $1995 option and drawn in more G6 sales and given customers one more reason to buy this car over an Altima or Accord.
