I think that GM emblem has to go....
Re: I think that GM emblem has to go....
It probally would be better in the back with the brand's logo up front.
I'm in the "could care less" catagory on the thing, but I think the reason behind it (to increase awareness that GM is making the car) is pretty silly, to put it politely.

Yeah, it's pretty dumb, and has 'marketing brainstorming session' written all over it.
But in the grand scheme of things, it's nothing a hair dryer and some patience won't solve.

Re: I think that GM emblem has to go....
I wonder how much the badges are costing GM? It may not be a ton of money, but I bet it adds up. That money could be better spent at this point I think. As far as cosmetics go, it doesn't bother me. I wish they'd put it on the rocker pannel just in front of the rear wheel though.
Re: I think that GM emblem has to go....
In a meeting of important things to get done, where would the emblem fall in.
Time was obviously taken out somewhere to make it a reality (and at GM pace, it was a lot of time im sure).

I wouldn't mind it if they had done it right. A well done badge can actually enhance a car's design. Note the Pontiac badges on the fender and between the seats on the Solstice - they're an integral part of the exterior. The other car that did this really well was also a Pontiac. One of the old GTO's (can't remember which gen) had rear reflectors that were GTO insignias. I personally think they should just go back to putting "GM" on the seat belt buckles.
While we're on badges, I think Chevy has no business not putting some crossed flag emblems on the front of the new Impala SS's fenders. That would be a nice touch of heritage that would cost next to nothing and yet would help the car out immeasurably in the image war with the LX Hemi cars.

Re: I think that GM emblem has to go....
They should incoroporate it onto the dashboard the same way the model names are right now. At least it wouldn't come off like the way they used to put it on the floormat. I believe they stopped doing that back in the mid 90s.
Re: I think that GM emblem has to go....
How about no GM emblems anywhere!!!! Not on the outside, not on the belt buckles, not on the floor mats, not on the dash, not on the door jambs. You plaster the make and their logo all over the car if you want somebody to remeber what make the car is.
I also think the gold bow-tie needs to die. The gold color generally doesn't look good on cars and clashes with some paint colors. Make it a silver, chrome, red, blue, pint, etc. according to what would look best on a given car with a given color.
