It had Chevy badges and NY plates. It was driving north on I-87 between Saratoga and Montreal. I thought at first maybe it was a Canadian car, but it had NY plates. I see from Chevrolet.ca and chevrolet.com.mx that it isn't sold in Canada, but is sold in Mexico. I didn't know you could register a Mexican car in the USA. It is even called the Chevy Astra
I'm not sure what the rules are on importing a Mexican car to the U.S. I know that there are people who bring Canadian cars to the U.S. There's a Pontiac Sunrunner (Chevy Tracker) and a Toyota Echo 2-door hatchback (previous gen. Yaris) that I see around town all the time. Back in college I knew a guy who had a Pontiac Firefly (Geo Metro) convertible.
Don't recall ever seeing any Mexican cars on U.S. roads. I wonder if it's an evaluation vehicle? Any scenario where those wouldn't have manufacturer plates?

This is what I was thinking of. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ighlight=astra
The Brazilian Astra was based off of Vectra. I wonder if the Mexican one is the European one or the Brazilian one.
