Hypothetical Question
Hypothetical Question
If the Camaro name was for sale, which manufacturer would do the best job bringing it into the market?
Chrysler Camaro doesn't sound too bad to me. Their concepts are cool, their motor's are tuff and they seem to put performance first in everything they do.
I know this question is a little out there but GM seems to be doing a lot of "talk without the walk".

I'll take it seriously for a moment ...
If the Camaro name were for sale, you would probably have to assume that the company was wanting it for nostalgic reasons, some Americana, and exposure for the company overall ... tapping into the American love affair for muscle cars, more than likely looking to sell a modern interpretation of an old muscle/performance car. In that regard, a company like PANOZ, or AVANTI would probably benefit. I think AVANTI may actually own the F-body underpinnings now. I seem to recall reading that somewhere.
Although not needing exposure necessarily, I think BMW could do a good job, selling it along side the MINI or something as a separate CAMARO brand, and using 3 series underpinnings maybe, with the 5 series 8. It would seem to fit the marketing concept behind the return of the MINI. Who knows, maybe BMW will pick up the Studebaker name and bring along a ... Hawk was it??
However, I'd rather see GM keep it of course, and do a good job on the next one.

"I think Avanti is using SN-95 Mustang underpinnings now."
You're right. I just read that the 2005 will be based on the Mustang platform. It was the 2004 and a couple of years prior that was F-body based.
The newer one looks a little better from the car show pics. The F-body one didn't translate well, looked a little chunky even for an AVANTI ... see below if anyone is interested:

It's hard to hear anything in front of it other than Chevy IMO.
