Exclamation How's this: Mercedes trying to be.... a CADILLAC!

I would have never believed anything like this just a few years ago.

I'm missing the part where they're trying to be Cadillac? They just want a full size SUV to compete where they've never had one before.

Though I must say IMO the GMT-900 Escalade is the SUV to beat in its class, currently...

I may have missed it along the way, but is there a V-series Escalade on the way. If Mercedes does and AMG, Cadillac almost has to.

I thought "V" was supposed to be more "M" then AMG, in that they only put it on things which can really benefit from it. Why there is no "M" 7 series or X series.

In any case, thats very interesting, my uncle had a first generation ML and HATED IT, said it squeaked, rattled rolled and had lots of gremlins, more than a normal merc. I hear the 2nd gen is supposed to be better though.

We'll see, there will probably be some crossover, but not to much. The Escalade will probably remain the better bargain, plus its got the EXT and ESV. What they DO NEED is a diesel. That would be a good idea anyway.

This SUV is more suited as a competitor to Lexus than Cadillac. Caddy has a certain crowd and style, i think it is very unique in its own segment.

Other SUVs that compete with Caddy - Hummer H2, Tahoe.

Yeah I did hear the V10 (and V12?) got cancelled about a year ago on the GMT-900s, I assume these were going to be for the Escalade.

Yea, well for the last few years, having an Escalade was a sign that you made it. Everyone from rappers that grew up poor, to those born into money. It was one of those American dream vehicles. But now is kind of late to mimic it, IMO.
