How will new European pedestrian safety laws alter the front-end of the next Camaro?

let me check.... yep, just as I thought, we dont live in Europe.
The chassis has already been designed for the whole crash test thing. It can be seen in the hood development of the Insignia and its very similar twin, the Velite. I dont think that it will mess up the front end too much.
I think that more Europeans should watch where the f*** they are walking, but thats me. I tend to think that most of thoes people arent that stupid.

I assume the new laws will unfortunately effect all cars in one way or another especially since Holden is involved and will most likely make the front of the next-gen Camaro and GTO very blunt like the Chrysler 300C.

Camaros and GTOs aren't marketed in Europe. Holden sells only a couple dozen Monaros and Commodores there per year.
The EU basically set up a de facto tarriff. No one is going to be importing cars into the EU with such rules in place.
These new laws would require the following improvements
1. Bumper must impact below knee to reduce damage and allow the pedestrian to roll onto the hood.
2. Hard impact points must be removed.
3. Cushioning of impact must be increased to reduce head injuries.

One way around the new European rules is going mid-engine. I saw a recent article where Uncle Bob stated he wondered if this was why the Volkswagen Concept R was mid-engine. If a kappa is built for Europe, dont be suprised if it also is mid-engine.
Now if only someone at GM could open his eyes to building that kind of car for us also. So much for "Pontiac excitement."

GM plans to release Kappa in Europe, but the whole hood thing is holding it back. GM is working on a hood release mechanisim that would pop the hood in a pedestrian crash, rasing it above the XX cm it has to be from the engine....stupid Europeans.

How about we just mandate that any European cars sold in the US have a ground clearance of over six feet so that they just go over pedestrians without hitting them?

So basically all next Gen European cars will have a cow-catcher and the hood and grill will be made out of foam rubber
