BTW: The colors I'd have for a 5th gen:
White
Black
Fire engine Red
Midnight Blue
Retnia melting yellow
Hugger Orange
Aqua Blue (like my car
)Gunmetal Grey
Deep Purple (like the GTO's)
Candy Apple Red or Magenta
That's all you need.
Re: How many color choices should hte 5th Gen Camaro have?
I think GM could do with no more than eight colors.
First, smart buyers realize that black, red and silver = greater resale value.
Now, that's boring, so we won't just limit it to that.
What is crucial is the fact that whatever colors are chosen need to carryover TO THE INTERIOR. That's where you score real points in the color department. Corvette needs matching body color interior trim.
Older cars, because of paint considerations, had body color glove boxes and knee bolsters (even though they really weren't knee bolsters back then), with stylish chrome accents. What is boring and denotes cheap interior quality as much as bad panel gaps is the monochromatic treatments given to huge areas of the interior of the car. A vast sea of ebony or tan or grey interior equals BORING. With leather seats, a considerable upcharge, it even gets more boring because the leather is almost always monochromatic also.
Design staff used to be called "Style and Color"...
The style part can be taken care of... let's not forget color this time around.

Guy, do you have pictures of your car after the new paint?
Black, dark grey, silver, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple
Basically a bit of all the non colors and all the colors of the color spectrum (ROYGBIV)

Indigo Blue Metallic should be added to the list....
I painted my '84 Z that color and its amazing! But it was a $3600 job, not a cookie-cutter paintjob you get from GM.
I would be happy with that color(which is a GM color already) and just made the paintjobs nicer....no orange-peel, with a nice, thick clearcoat. Plus, it would be nice to see more color in the interior...with an interior covered in something, besides just plastic...that can mesh well together with colors...both dark and light..
And a better SHIFTER!

Re: How many color choices should hte 5th Gen Camaro have?
i think they should have some basic colors, but not the crappy basic ones. no offense guionM or anyone else out there but i don't like teal, or purple colored camaros. when they aren't washed they look cheap. i think they should have basic colors that are more "premium" than "exotic"
so i would like to see richer paint. my friends mom has like a lincoln or something and the paint is like milk. i know GM is a bit cheap when it comes to this, cause they think people won't pay for it, but a nice color will make your jaw drop. i remember one time seeing a ls1 camaro with a light blue paint job, probably the nicest paint i have ever seen. so i say only use the premium paint and colors. like fathom green, and electron/nassau/azzuro blue, things like that.

yea, i was hoping that maybe we could have some cars with the deep rich type of paint and others with the "glass" look like this one

This would be more important than extra colors to me.

BTW, for all those who want lots of colors or new colors every year....you'd better hope that the next car's body panels aren't a hodgepodge of SMC, fiberlass or any other plastic.
Steel is the key to lots of color choice.

I have actually gotten two tickets where the cop put down that my '84 is black.
...it was nighttimeIndigo Blue Metallic was sooooo easy to keep clean, too...and scratches dont show up easy...
I would also like to see Electron Blue on them.
a really metallic-looking silver-grey would be cool...whith the same color-changing properties of the Indigo color. (BTW the indigo paint wasnt that expensive at all...)
Also....a very metallic BLACK!!!! with lots of silver metal flake...farkin A! That would be awesome

The other important thing is that i you are going to offer YELLOW, offer YELLOW. Not school bus yellow, not creamy butter yellow, not mustard yellow, just make the damn thing YELLOW.
