A C6 with a 6 speed Manual is $1305 cheaper than a C5 6 speed (MSRP of course )
1. I think $41K for a V6-powered STS is a huge rip-off. Compared to Infiniti's VQ engines, GM's "high value" units are underacheivers.

2. I don't think that the supposed decrease in base MSRP for the Corvette makes up for the fact that the C6 is shorter, higher, narrower and kinda funny looking.

V6 comparision:

Cadillac: 255hp, 252tq
Infiniti: 255hp, 246tq

Where's the "underacheiving" again?

There's nothing "supposed" about it... it is fact, the base MSRP for the C6 is cheaper than that of the C5 from the previous model year.

OK, well, I pulled the V6 numbers from the "I" sedan:

http://www.infiniti.com/content/mode...,31148,00.html

But, go ahead and use the G35 Sedan's numbers if you like. They are still basically even.

Comparing the G35 Coupe is pointless, since the G35 and STS are about as different as you can get.

1. I did.

2. The 3.6 HFV6 is still weaker, but larger in displacement.

3. The G35 sedan is uprated to 277hp for 2005, up from 260.

Ever hear of the 2005 Infiniti M35? It will make at least 280hp, but less than 300.

5hp and 7ft lbs or tq are not anything to really make some sweeping statement about. If it's uprated for 05, good for Inifiniti.

If you want more power for the STS, step up the to V8. Plenty of power there.

Want even more? Wait for the STS-V.

G35 V6 does not quite equal 320hp/315tq that the V8 STS will have though, eh?

I can get (and have) A Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with 260hp/280tq for that price too... right in line with your Infiniti.

I think it's entertaining how worked up and slanderous you get over a whopping 5 horsepower... like it is some gapping cavern that sets the two engines apart.

A G35 is not comparable to an STS. The G35 is comparable to the CTS. My guess is that you have never seen or looked at the STS so once again your comments are unfounded and shallow.

At what rpm are the respective torque peaks?

The 3.6 is a High Feature engine.
The 3.5 as well as the 3.9 are High Value engines.

Why are you even comparing the G35 to the STS? Even I, who blurs all kinds of cars together, believe these are very different markets. People that are interested in a $45+k premium featured vehicle aren't even going to look at the G35. Their going to need a lot more luxury than that.

Then you're still not getting more power. The Infiniti 3.5 and Caddy are about a dead heat. Except the Infiniti needs premium to get 260HP, Caddy only needs 87 regular. I'd say the Cadillac engine has the advantage since your getting about the same power at 20¢ less a gallon.

also the STS runs 0-60 in 6.6sec. with the V6

We also don't know about the power under the curve so there may be more differences besides just peak power. It seems that the 3.6 can really move out pretty quick as demonstrated in the performance numbers of the STS, SRX, and CTS as well, even though these are all heavy vehicles.
