honda ridgeline-possibly the ugliest truck ever produced?
Re: honda ridgeline-possibly the ugliest truck ever produced?
This truck is built on the Honda Odyssey MINIVAN Platform
pop the hood and you will see a V6 that is in there SIDEWAYS
It's the worlds first FWD full size pickup
If the Titan can't sell 100,000 with a real truck, then no one will buy this Honda thing.

Wow, based off a minvan with only a v6 for power? Well, maybe they didn't have to sink too much money on it to develop it, then. I can't see this thing selling.

Re: honda ridgeline-possibly the ugliest truck ever produced?
This thing is going to be a joke. Straight from Honduh:
Curb weight: 4492 lbs
HP: 255 @ 5750
Torque: 252 @ 4500
Let's see. 4500 lbs. Full-time AWD sucking down extra HP. Pretty high RPM for a torque peak on a truck.
They can rate it however they want for towing; doesn't make it true. My 95 Jimmy is rated somewhere between 5-6k lbs. That thing has no prayer of pulling anywhere near that....MAYBE 3500lbs, and that's probably being generous. And that's with 260 TQ.

That thing is so ugly. I predict it to be a bigger flop than the Titan. Even though the Titan might be equally ugly, it is quick and can haul, tow, and go 4 wheelin, all the good truck stuff. Now the Honda is just an oversized Accord with a pickup bed in the back and an AWD system.
And lets face it, people will continue to buy Hondas as long as their quality doesn't slip, no matter how ugly they make them.

Re: honda ridgeline-possibly the ugliest truck ever produced?
Its smaller than Avalanche, and I think about 1000 lbs lighter (av is like 5500 lbs?) The Avalanche is rated at about 7500 lbs though of towing.
I read a review (carconnection?) claiming it had no problem keeping up with the ford while towing 5000 lbs.
Remember, not everyone uses their truck as a serious off roader or tow vehicle.. It'll be perfect for people that want a larger vehicle, that can has a sizable back seat, and can occasionally tow and haul odd things in the back.. Just like why I bought my Avalanche.

I find it funny that they are going for the 'rugged' imagine with only a 3.5 v6 under the hood. Jeebus, my 92 fullsize ( a tank that suffered only a 6" dent from a 45 mph impact from an explorer ) weighs less than that and the pathetic, slow, slug of a TBI 350 it has makes more torque.... and thats at a good 2k rpm less. Nice try honda

almost forgot the hot styling, that'll make up for its lack of power... not.
