The heartbeat of America: Chevrolet

Why doesnt chevy use this anymore? I thought it was a great saying, much better than "We'll be there" IMO.

I thought it was much better than the two slogans which have followed. (Genuine Chevrolet & We'll Be There).

Yes think of the 80's!! Much cooler cars then than now.

But they REALLY NEED to come up with something better/cooler. Don't use anything used before, come up with something new.

The more this conversation comes up on this and other boards, the more it seems that GM dropped the ball by discontinuing this theme. Or maybe it's just one of those nostalgia things, although one has to question whether there'll be any nostalgia concerning the "We'll Be There" campaign.

I think they (Chevy) got tired of the slogan and decided to move on. Its very 80's and the idea in marketing and advertising is always new and fresh. Genuine Chevy and We'll Be There are not good but traditional. They fill the need for Chevy to get back to its roots as America's standard bread and butter automobile. Pontiac is the performace division.

However on a side note lots of competitiors to Chevy have used the Heartbeat theme to death. How many times did ya see a Mustang or a F150 or Ram built up with sayings like "Heartbreaker" "Faster than a Heartbeat" "Heart-Attack" or "Heartbreak of America" etc.

I keep hearing how people are tired of the Chevy Trucks' "Like a Rock" theme, but I still like it and think it works. Maybe I don't watch enough TV to get sick of it.

I personally don't think taglines need to be changed every 5 years. BMW does quite nicely with "Ultimate Driving Machine"; Nike still uses "Just do it", and so on.

I feel the same way. Seems that when companies start cycling through new taglines, it's not the tagline that's the problem - it's a product issue, but marketing takes the blame (or is given too much credit for being able to solve problems).
