Has the targa roof been axed on the C6 vette? (look close at this pic)

Looking at this roof it looks like its not designed to have a targa roof option (check out the top of doors and the center of the roof)- http://www.layindoor.com/~chris/auto...6vette_big.jpg

that pic helps out my opinion of the c6, I think its going to be a lot of fun. The roof is definantly diferent than the c5. Are the headlights going to be fixed or pop ups, I saw a zo6 this weekned with a fixed headlight conversion, it looked awesome, almost like a modena, I hope they change something drastic like that
On some spy pics taken a few months back, it looked like that could be some form of Ttops, but some guys told me that it was probably just something they put on there for the concept vehicle to add to the camouflouge, and it probably won't be on a production model...
fixed head lights for sure. And, you can see the cammo on the A pillar (part of it is peeling off at the top), and on the door trim, so who knows how much cammo there is on that car
I'd bet the whole lid is cammo, and that trim on the door. Likely an all glass appearance for the greenhouse.

Call me a pessimist, but I am still not convinced that's the real deal.
GM might be pulling a fast one.
And that would be a nifty one to pull. Shock everyone with a car different from what the world thinks it is (up until this point).

While I'm not a betting man, I'D put money on that being a C6 prototype, probably a Beta. Looks fairly complete.
A couple of things that strike me. 1) Its the same car as the ones captured by AutoWeek and Car & Driver testing in Milford or Arizona so to see this now for the third time makes me think its not just something to throw people off.
2) The roof does look a bit odd. Like its taller and those bubbles over the occupants remind me of the bumps a Viper GTS used to have. Remember too the C5 has slight bumps in the roof. Could be like most of what the C6 styling has become a more pronounced and harder edged C5.
3) The fixed headlights seem to be very flush with the body and nor protruding into the cars clean lines. Thats a good thing. I think it will look very nice with some xenon projector beam lights that I hope will look like a 360 Modena.
4) The hood, wow what a difference from the C5. Not in its style but shape. Its very narrow and compared to past Vette's with clamshell hoods, (C4) to the C5's wide broad hood. This one is more like a 68-82 Vette to me.
Lastly for you racing fans, Did anyone notice the Michael/Mario Andretti looking helmet the test driver is wearing?

I think the hood and a good part of the body are the real deal. But, the greenhouse is obviously cammo'd a lot, or this is the worst fit and finish we will ever see on a vette
Also, it appears there are some healthy front brake cooling ducts. I bet once the bra and under padding come off, the front will be very nice!

Guys,
That form the targa takes right over the side glass are rain gutters.
Look at any modern car with a fixed roof. There's the small channel that runs the length of the roof right above the side glass. That channel moves water away from the side glass; so the water has less of a tendency to pour into the passenger compartment.
It looks as if the engineers have molded a rain channel or gutter into the targa glass for this purpose.
Probably too many Corvette owners complaining of water coming in when they have their windows cracked when it's raining.
The only downside to this is that it gives the roof a chunky look when the car is viewed from the side. Take a look at the earlier spy photos and you'll see what I mean.

Couple of things....I don't see it as much in this picture, but that T-bar look is missing from this car. Previous pix had what looked like a 4th gen t-top design, but GM figured out how to design a full roof w/out loss of rigidity w/ the C5, so I can't imagine they'd go back to that...chalk that one up to disguise. Also, that A-pilar looks pretty rough, not flush like C5 or even C4. Again, I'm thinkng disguise.
I still don't know whats up w/ that large, one holer grille up front, but it doesn't look very vettish to me. I would hope that that's disguise too....vettes need the split grille.
I'm dealing w/ the fixed headlights...so long as they make them look cool, I can live with it.
One last thing, upon referencing my Corvette Museum pix from '98, I noticed that the C5 betas used the exact same cammo pattern (white w/ cammo'd front and rear ends). My guess is that these are betas, as the pilot cars are actually built on the line are they not? One other item of note, the C5 betas had the production wheels on them, so the wheels in the pix could be legit as well, too bad they're not polished though

Lot's of cars these days have "not flush" A-pillars. They sit forward from the windshield about a centimeter or so. I believe the purpose is to direct rain water up and over the windshield instead of around the sides of the car. It might be an aerodynamics thing, though.
The 4th gen a-pillars were flush or nearly so and rain water dumped in the cockpit if the windows were cracked.

Rain coming in the car with the windows down??? I can think of an easier solution than redesigning the A pilar to fix that problem.
I dunno, I just don't like the look of it on a car that smooth. Maybe it's just me, but I roll my windows up when it's raining.
