(That's the way I am taking this... if you are referring to optional flat olive-drab paint, or factory installed machine gun mounts... well... I guess you win...)
I like it, but in this picture it looks like a hot wheels toy car.
One question I have, are the gray peices on the front plastic or metel?

No. I can't imagine it being substantially different than a Colorado....offroad.
And I'm not really sure what they mean about Hummer's military derived DNA either. The H2 and H3 are not vehicles designed to withstand the rigors of military service....so I am assuming it is pure marketing fluff from GM. That's GM's right....but I'm not falling for it.
If I'm wrong....someone proove it to me.

) Look for more of the same: heavy-duty skidplates, axles, etc.

You may be right in the end, but the H2 seems to hold it's own offroad for a stock vehicle based on another product.

Just as I showed a while back that the H2 is much more capable offroad than the Tahoe it is based on, I think the H3 may be similar. (Yeah, I remember that thread.

Sorry bud, I wasn't convinced. If I recall, it took about a dozen post or so... before we determined that the H2 had a stability control system slightly more advanced than what was available on the Tahoe....and I believe I'm the one that finally dug that up.
Like I said before....GM has the right to market the Hummer brand any ol' way they want to.......all I'm saying is that I personally am not buying into it.
What's the problem?

But, if GM builds and markets Hummer as its rough-and-tumble truck/SUV line like Jeep is to DCX, I think it'd be a good thing.

But I reserve the right to ruthlessly ridicule them when I think they've gone over the top.
I saw a video recently of an H2 doing some rock crawling where I heard this loud "snap!!!" Yep, the tie rod broke and both front wheels where trying to drive in opposite directions. He was crawling really slow and wasn't in a particulaly difficult situation. It could be that he had already stressed it earlier before the video was shot and it didn't take much more to break it. Or, it could be that they're just not as stout as everyone hoped.
Either way, I bet a lot of potential buyers believe the H2 is a Hummer so it must be invincible. Obviously, there's no way the H2 can do the things an H1 can and people need to figure that out. The H2 is probably a great part time offroad vehicle but in stock form won't hold up like an original H1 or other dedicated offroad machine.
One thing's for sure, it has more offroad capability than I'll ever need so overall I like it!

I remember that video... definately not good by any means, but we don't know what else that Hummer has been through either, in all fairness.
It seems to be the exception rather than the rule, in any case, as I haven't heard any groups of people upset about similar failure... the biggest complaint about H2 by their owners seems to be... poor gas milage...
:duh:

If the sticker said 24/34 and you are getting 10/15 I can understand being upset... however if your sticker says 10/15 and that's what you get... well... what's the problem?!?
