GXP is finally available to build on GMCanada web site.
GXP is finally available to build on GMCanada web site.
I built the 2 cars that I would like to have..both similarly equiped.
GXP (Leather sunroof)
$40,695.00
Magnum (Leather sunroof)
$40,880.0
Magnum has more power, more room and more gears.
I can only beleive that the charger will be even cheeper.
Hopefully there is incentives and rebates built into the pontiacs price. Because right now there would be ZERO reason for me to get the GXP... especially with the questionnable (whatever you call it that breaks under to much power in the grand prix's).
Thoughts?

Re: GXP is finally available to build on GMCanada web site.
The transmission capability is torque limited, but the only people I've seen break them are those with HIGHLY modded GTPs. I think Z284Ever has a friend with a modded GTP that has 50k on it with no significant problems. I sold an '02 GTP to a friend who did a pulley, exhaust, intake, headers and a bunch of other things...47k miles later the tranny has given him zero problems, and he drags the car too.
Why not take a GXP? I don't know...better braking with the cross drilled rotors and big calipers, the excellent chassis tuning (granted, no one has driven a Charger yet, but the Magnum and the 300 are quite heavy cars to begin with...about 400 lbs more than a W body), while the GP is no beauty queen I like it far better than the Charger, and finally...
Seeing as how you live in Canada, wouldn't it be nice to have FWD for the snow? A member I spoke with over at ClubGP.com has a 300C and an '03 Monte SS...he's planning to trade the 300 in on a GXP because this past winter with it was too annoying. In summary, Charger has more HP (but more weight), may be cheaper (but won't be...both have a projected MSRP at $29,995 for an R/T versus a GXP), won't get the same MPG, but you can blow donuts with it
IMO, advantage = GXP. Better MPG, better in snow, a face not quite as hiedous, and a pretty cool chassis. Both are nice cars...you decide

Stopped by my local Pontiac Buick GMC dealership last week. Their first GXP sold within 24 hours of hitting the lot. The manager wishes he had ordered a bunch of them.

The thing I dont quite understand is I really want one of those GXP's...
I have to say that the GF would much prefer the FWD for the snow, although I personally think I'd want the rwd.
Problem is, its ot much $$ and the GF wants a honda coupe with a manualv6.
I'll have to go at a dealership and try and find a GXP to try and brainwash the GF that this is what she wants. Or waite till the price lowers a bit..maybe around xmas time?

At that point the '06s will be in full swing...this is one GP I do not believe GM will have to give away. If GM was smart, they'd hold the MSRP the same for '06 and give the GXPs a smaller (if any) rebate in relation to the other GP models. This car, IMO, is worth the price of entry.

What a car, 303HP, Auto with manual tap shift, 18 inch forged alum. rims with 12.7 in cross drilled rotors, XM radio w/cd changer, auto climate, remote start, sunroof, and heated suede leather. Go test drive one of these you will be surprised.

Re: GXP is finally available to build on GMCanada web site.
Congrats, blackpontiac2000!! You are the first person I know of to have a GXP. I've had a brief drive in one (unfortunately in the rain), and I was impressed. The car has some attitude, and imparts a feeling of solidity and aggressiveness. And the lighter weight seems to allow it to run right next to a Hemi LX car, despite giving up ~40 hp. I think the GXP will likely outhandle the LX cars, too (except maybe for the pricier and far more powerful SRT-8 versions with 425 hp).
I'm not usually a big fan of silver cars, but that looks really sharp. I love the way the 18s set off the new GP. 17s are a minimum on that body (and 16s look too small on it, imo).
I think people should drive the car; it will really surprise some of you. Congrats again on the new ride.

Re: GXP is finally available to build on GMCanada web site.
Like I said, I can't wait to drive one...too bad I took this weekend off for graduation
Hopefully it won't sell so fast I can't take a spin in it.
BTW, is it just me or did GM really give TOO good of a deal on that car? No offense to the new owner...congrats
But to me, if its a really desirable car, is GM just plain silly to hand profits off to people that would pay for the car whether the rebate is there or not? It'd help resale value and consumer confidence in the product. Remember, a rebate used to mean it was a "closeout." I remember being shocked when my mother bought an '01 GP GT in September, 2000 with a $750 rebate! Rebates were a year end closeout thing...not a way to market cars!
Regardless, I can't wait to drive one. Maybe I can get over my dislike of the current styling with a twist of the key. What can I say...a car with a bad attitude just speaks to me

Re: GXP is finally available to build on GMCanada web site.
I'm having some trouble with the whole GXP Grand Prix thing. That thing being the different sized tires on this car, fronts are 255's whilst the rear are 225's. Being that this is a FWD'er, rotating the tires aren't possible with this set up, meaning that you'll be eating up the front tires every 25-30k miles (maybe even sooner) and right now 18" tires aren't cheap. Did anyone at think of this before going ahead with this half assed idea of torque steer management???

Hence my first mod would be to replace the wheels and tires with 255s all around.
