Guess who drove a CTS-V coupe on a race track?
Well it looks like you've driven the closest thing to a 5th Gen Z28 yet. If GM kept dials in the Camaro to feel like the CTS-V and we would imagine it'll be 150 or so lbs lighter would it earn it's Z28 stripes?
-I also think the it should be CTS/CTC. I get the feeling that GM is really pushing the coupe name to make it stand out as a different model from the sedan and generate some extra buzz.

Personally, I think the M3 feels more like a modern Z/28 than does the CTS-V coupe. I'd say that even if both of them get identical lap times.
I think the Z/28 will be lighter than the V, 4100 pounds vs 4250. I don't know if it's chassis will be as well sorted out as the CTS-V though - Sigma does have a theoretically more advanced suspension. Definitely better steering on the CTS-V vs the Camaro SS, hope they can do a fix on the Z/28. Also, I can comfortably see out of a CTS, something which adds to my confidence.
Don't forget that the more they make it like the CTS-V, it is very likely that the price will climb which will push it even further out of the price range of most of us. I don't expect it be priced nearly as high as the CTS-V of course, but you still have to pay to play, especially if you want weight reduction.
The Z28 will NOT be cheap. I get the idea that some here think it's going to cost barely more than an SS. Fact is it's going to be right up there with the Shelby GT500. Given the lower projected production numbers, perhaps even more.
Yes, it will be a steal (other than the Shelby, you simply aren't gonna find a 550 horse car for that cheap).
But it is certainly goning to be beyond the means of most all of us here.

Do you really think that most people in any demographic can afford a $50,000 car? Don't be silly. Sure, some people can, but the vast majority of people can't.

I was hoping hey would keep it under the GT500 price. The LSA vs. LS3 create engine price difference is about $8k. They could give us a $39,995 Z28 with the 1SS options, but they probably won't because they can get GT500 money out of people.
