whoever's telling you about extra bash plates and being built to live on dirt roads is pulling your leg. I suppose they've told you we've got kangaroos in the main street in sydney and we all ride koalas to work, too.
nobody wears hats with corks on them, either.
Oh, and if you ever get one of these things to drop into the 12s, you WILL have to assume it's not stock.
While we run 400 metre times, the difference in distance isn't significant enough for our testing to be that far out.
The sedans are, curiously, consistently quicker over the standing quarter mile. Usually by three tenths, or so, but it's consistent.
the only mildly plausible theory is that the extra stiffness at the rear of the coupe bodyshell has something to do with it. has to, because nothing else is different.
I drove this car's predecessor (the 300kW GTS) on the Nordschleife (old Nurburging) with an M5 and an E55, and it blew them away.

you say a monaro won't be stock if it dips in the 12's ( bobcat special eyh ?
)the big question in my mind still remains - does the GTO have a unique camshaft, or is it f-body, vette , Z06 spec... it clearly states on pontiacs website the GTO has a "high lift" camshaft... yet 350hp is a bit less than an R8 ???
and were the test-mules or mag review test cars equiped with GTO spec motors ?
From the underside you can see at the front of the engine there is a plate to protect the sump. no other bash plates are shown.
and if you look at the sump in this pic you can see why it is there. I don't know if the standard sump is the same as AWD one in configuration, but that would be a good reason why they have the sump guard shown in the first pic.

Did anyone else notice that all those cars shown ready for shipment have no rear spoiler.
I wonder what the deal with that is.

Hmmm.. perhaps they are dealer installed upon arrival at the dealership?
Maybe it's easier to ship for some reason?
The car was designed from the ground up without a spoiler and most people think it looks better that way.
On production cars, the spoiler serves no useful purpose anyway, and the key to the Monaro (sorry, GTO) shape is its simplicity and cleanliness
Very few of the Australian delivered Monaros run a spoiler. They even made it standard on the high-end series II munros, but most people order the car without one.
Do yourself a favour and leave it off. If you put one on, after a month, i reckon it'll start jarring you with its lack of harmony for the shape.

while i agree it does look nice and clean, it also doesn't look as agressive without a spoiler. i expect the complete opposite of the situation in AUS. most people will tack them back on. it just has to have a little edge, somewhere...
what i'm not looking forward to is those ricers who've outgrown their meager budget days getting a GTO an put an F1 wing on it.
don't think it won't happen...

The one number there I'm disappointed about is the skidpad number. The SRX and Cayenne SUV's pull 0.8g's on a skidpad. I was hoping the GTO would pull at least a 0.85.

No numbers, but favorable review from AutoWeek.

Oh yeah....
