Didnt the Mclaren F1 only get 0.90 on the skidpad from one of the US mags?
well, tire grip has a lot to do with the skidpad score (but its not everything), but it also has a lot to do with handling. if a car can stick to the road better than another car that means it can carry more speed through a corner which means a quicker car. so i'd say skidpad numbers do have a direct connection with handling.

secondly, are the australian roads really that f3cked up? i'd imagine most Monaros would stay in Metro areas where i'd also imagine the roads being at the least decent if not mirror smooth.

the stock suspension is more comliant - its more of a Grand Tourer - fast, and comfortable.

here is a monaro that's got factory suspension, but with aftermarket shocks and springs (bilstein & eibachs i think), it came 6th overall in the modern category amongst some good competition.

see it in action in the small vid - here

One Pontiac mag got high 12s out of a 6 speed already. For some reason all the media GTOs are dumbed down with traction control and some weird computer program. The purple one we had in Bowling Green was because it was the only A4 in North America at the time.

All I can say is "boys and girls, you better order them up quick-smart" because this car will not last for long once word gets out.

i think Lutz is a smart man, and possibly could achieve the impossible in getting import guys to drool over Domestic GM products.

I hit that board.

Apart from a few reasoned individuals, the rest are tools.

I love the "GAME OVER" worded on the rear of the Monaro. Very cool. Man the more I look at and hear about the new GTO the cooler they sound. I don’t think missing a hood scoop is going to slow this car down at all. I’ve got a black 2004 GTO on my back ground right now and man it looks sexy. A good friend of mine was on my computer last night. She took at look at it and was like wow I’ve never see that car on the road, man I'd drive that in a second. The more I told her about it the more she liked it. Come on lotto, I need a GTO!

Im certain it will get better times by a more "professional" driver.
MT got the same basic numbers for the 2001 Cobra and MACH1.But MM&FF with someone who knows how to drive got 13.13 for the MACH and 13.34 for the Cobra. Both stock.

I thoroughly checked out the purple one in Bowling Green and I loved it, loved the interior too, and loved the feel from the driver's seat.

Its no f-body for sure, but that's not always a negative. Would be a GREAT alternative to a BMW M3 for quite a bit less cash.

That's the whole idea.

It's odd how many people look at this car as a Firebird replacement, while completely and ignoring the gapping whole left by the Grand Prix GTP coupe!

If anything, Pontiac should rename Grand Prix sedan's replacement Bonneville & the regular grade GTOs Grand Prix, while keeping the GTO name for the performance version. IMHO that would help the "confused".

Know what's stange though? When it's a BMW or a Honda in MT, the numbers can hardly be matched by a mere mortal. Hmmmm........

I thought it would run 13.5 @ 105 so this is encouraging because its already close and its only the first test, off shore too. Obviously the LS1 in the GTO is truly more powerful because with the added weight the car still runs speeds like my Z did stock. My race weight was 3650. So this car with a race weight probably near 3900 is doing well!
