It may be a tecnicality, but you can safely say the "new' W-based, mid-lux 2004 Grand Prix is "older" than the Holden V chassis.

2. Both the 1997 W-body and VT Commodore came out at roughly the same time. Personally, I don't see much of any "carryover" from the 1988 GM-10 cars to the W-body. However, alot of structure was carried over from the 1987 Opel Omega/Senator to the '93 Omega/GM2800.
3. The 2004 Grand Prix deserves the appelation "all new" alot more than the VY Holdens. The Pontiac received a comprehensive rebodying, while the Holdens got a facelift with a raft of tweaks.
So I guess, the GTO isn't all that "new" and North American engineered cars aren't that old.

Those pesky Germans have changed the game, and for some reason seem to understand American cars better than the Americans at Chrysler did.

I was TALKING ABOUT AMERICAN OWNED CAR COMPANIES.
The Muscle car Era died with when the baby boomers became parents (1973) It only makes since that We are the ones to bring it back for our children. lol
The new Muscle car era will include Both American & Non American cars.
It will be a tough for many of us to diside on if we want to go with the GTO that is Not built here in the US or cars like many of the ***. cars that are built here in the US.

speaking of holden's history, did you know that the year before the buick 3800 series II was available, holden needed a 6 cylinder for the "vl" '88 model commodore / calais, and opted for the nissan RB30t 3.0 I6 turbo, can you say skyline motor !!!
do you think it had performance potential ??? or is it the same as the Opel rekord it originated from ?
click here to see a '88 holden

There were a lot of changes made to Commodore/Monaro FROM 93 Omega/GM2800, we are not talking about Opel.

I don't think you were following the line of this thread. I am referring to your original post to read up history of Holdens going back to 1968... The whole argument was that in the 90's Holden got a new platfrom ("based" off Opel). I do not see what 1968 Monaro has to do with this platform.
