Gto

What a slap in the face to the first true muscle car. Not 1 hint of it's history in the new GTO. I am not pushing retro but a Grand AM on steroids is not what I had in mind. Let's hope they don't let these guy's near any future F-body projects or we may get 1979
Monza as the next gen F-body! The article is Car/Driver said GM
would only plan a 3 yr run on GTO's. Can history repeat itself with a F-body that will lay the GTO to rest again?

V8 and RWD but no history Sorry GM doesn't make a 3 speed tranny anymore we will have to make due with the 6 speed
I think the 2004 GTO looks more agressive than the 1964

GTO = V8 RWD and Grand Am = V6 FWD, two totally different platforms

GTO will be built in Australia for 3 years need the 2007 will be built in the US on the same platform as the 2007 Camaro

Wow, this is the very first complaint like this I have ever heard about the new GTO. Thanks for the refreshing viewpoint!

i think the car is awesome. i just dont understand why everyone bitches about everything. its another RWD V8 coupe.... how many other cars like that are being produced? would u rather my car? i dont think so.....

everyone complains about ricer this, civic that, 'wrong wheel drive' 4 bangers suck...

well here u go, a beautiful car with an awesome looking interior (imho) that offers u EXACTLY what you have on your camaro. GM V8 RWD performance with a 6spd!

so the cars no longer a box, and it doesnt have a hood scoop (well for right now at least). thats great, did the 2002 camaro have the hide away headlights like the '69 RS did? no... SO WHAT that doesnt make it any less of a camaro...see what i mean?

yaaarrrrr, sorry....i just dont understand the prejudice. o well

Man, some of you guy's are hungry for anything V8 RWD. Keep sending the mesage to the GM/FORD designers and buy this stuff. Go buy a New Merc Maurader or a Lincolin Towncar if you want RWD V8. The point is the GTO went out as a anemic sticker car and now returns as a nicely powered fleet/rental car. OH boy.

IMO the new GTO is awesome. Sure it's not the badass f-body but it wasn't meant too. How many retro cues does the f-body have? A few at best. This car will sell. As for the 3 year stint that is to be expected when the new American GTO will come in 07.

Are you talking about the Holden Monaro based GTO? Did you want it to be a riced out FWD or something?

BMW quality, 6 speed Manual, IRS, and a 350HP LS1 all rapped in a nice classy package loaded for the price of a loaded Camaro SS. Sounds good to me.

I midsize, V8, RWD, 2 door, manual transmission, reasonably affordable sedan isn't a hint of the original GTO?

Jesus, what a bunch of whiners.

Dont buy one. It wont hurt GM any. They will be limited production, and your contribution isnt needed to sell every one.

BTW, What exactly should it have been to make you guys happy? The Monaro is a feaking sweet car, and the new GTO looks like other Pontiacs, just like the GTO did in the past.

Oh yeah, I forgot that the classic GTO had its own design Wasnt it a Le Mans with a big motor.

Get off it, this car would be so much worse off if it had survived.
Put any of your classic GTO's up against this one and prepare it to get embarassed.

Im agreeing with you but werent the original GTOs basically Tempest's?

I like the GTO, the ONLY fault I have with it is the flat hood. Every GTO had hood scoops. Thats the only real peice of heritage I see missing. Othe than that its a V8 RWD 2 door, that fits in with Pontiacs current line-up.

Why do you guys bitch about something trivial like this. If your gonna bitch, lets uproar about the fact that we will most likley never be able to buy a new Firebird again

It's not whinning and I am not going to buy one. I am tired of GM putting names on stuff just for the heck of it. Speaking of Lemans
you remeber the sweet offering from Pontiac several years back!
I think it was a freakin Daewoo. Same old stuff.

And don't even get me started on the GM idea of killing the Trans AM. The last Muscle car to be built every year since year 1!!!
