yea that V8 badge really does it for me. Even though I still would find it odd to be driving a FWD V8 car, I am proud of the General for doing something like this.

Wow that looks cool! Those exhaust pipes are huge! And that vent behind the front wheel is really friggin cool, is it functional? It reminds me of something from a second gen TA. When are they due to be out?

GXP production starts in March. This is probably a pre-production run to test out the plant's ability to make the GXP, and this is probably the car you will see at SEMA when the car is official launched!
Walking around a Nissan dealer today, I saw the AMAZING pricing on all the new Nissans! 32k for a near base looking Pathfinder!! When right next store, they had a Hemi Magnum for 33k with leather and DVD nav and Sirius....
And I also saw my first 05 Mustang. Black, V6, tan leather interior...guess what else I saw? 3k mark up on the car.
Anyone in the jersey shore area...take a look at it. Sansone Auto Mall, Rt66. 3k mark up on a V6....wtf is gunna happen when the GT come!?!?

Am I the only one who isnt excited about a V8 in a FWD car. I'm sorry but I have a '99 Grand Prix GTP and the torque steer is bad enough in that.
I can searly tell you I wont by buying a V8 FWD car.

Our 04 GTP has torque-steer-o-plenty when you get on it... to be honest I think 260hp or so is reaching the limits of what a FWD car should really be fitted with...
It's going to get pretty dangerous at some point, when unknowing people punch the throttle at take off on the street and lose control and wiggle the car all over the place..., Just my opinion though.
I think FWD definately has it's place... no question, but I don't know how much more power you can safely put in them... it's good to see a move back to RWD for this reason alone!

Re: Grand Prix GXP pics on GMI
i think as long as the car has a limited slip it will be fine. its the high powered FWD cars without the limited slip that torque steer badly. i mean look at the 400+whp turbo hondas. they torque steer pretty badly until you put like an Integra Type R LSD or a Quaife LSD in it.

Re: Grand Prix GXP pics on GMI
Supposedly the target 5.3 HP is 290 for FWD, correct? To answer jawz, I guess that means 30 more HP. Torque steer is manageable if you know what the hell you're doing...but hell, even in my 200hp 3800 GP, it ain't great. My 175hp '02 Grand Am GT was even worse though!!
Its all in the way they design the halfshafts. Northstars have equal lengh halfshafts and exhibit VERY little torque steer. I've wailed on my friend's '94 Eldorado a few times before, and it tracked straight and true...
This car is awesome...now it just needs 2 fewer doors and it'd be the perfect baby GTO! FWD for us snow folks, stay light on the options and to me this car should sticker under $30k...a basic GTP right now with no moonroof or leather is around $26,500.

Re: Grand Prix GXP pics on GMI
The fwd part dissapoints almost as much as the v8 part excites me.
What's the msrp? Something tells me it is going to cost just as much (if not more) than an Ls2 GTO which seems like better car imo by far. If they'd have given it an AWD system, the price would have been a little easier to swallow.

Re: Grand Prix GXP pics on GMI
This car doesn't excite me at all. FWD + LS4 = 0 in this case. If I wanted an 8 cylinder, I'd fork over for a GTO instead. I still can't imagine trying to launch with that thing under the hood.
