GMT-900 Pickups Debut Aug 2nd...or today?
I vote 'today'!
GMT-900 Info & Images @ C&G
Scanned from September's Motor Trend.
Two different interior choices - work or premium. And lots of cool features. Plus, the Silverado's looks are growing on me.

LMAO... still the old 4.3L V6? Man that thing has roots back so far it's insane. I mean it sure is a solid motor, but 195hp base motor just doesn't cut it for a brand new redesigned 2007 model half ton truck, IMO.
Speaking of 195hp... where did 5 ponies go?
And the article mentions 4 and 6 speeds... are the 6-speeds STILL not ready to go???

Well, looks like big improvements everywhere except for the powertrain; which is where most of the 900s hype I was hearing was focused on. Power figures didn't change much sans for the top model option (6.2L)... same with the transmission.
The interior is definitely much better and I'm happy to see they went so far as to offer the SUV interior on the more up model trucks and left a likely more cost efficient design for the work truck models.
Question though: it says on LS and LT trucks w/ the bench seat you'll get the work truck dash. So if you choose to go with the bucket seat setup or whatever I guess you'll get the nicer dash?
If there's not much difference in cost between the two you'd have to really want those bench seats or just really not give a damn about the inside.

I wonder if M/T is jumping the gun with bad info?
Two things stick out and make me think this.
1. POS 4.3L does not belong in MY 2007 truck. Its crude beyoind belief and pretty gutless. 4.2L I6 damnit!
2. 5.3L is rated at 320hp in the SUVs---I am supposed to beleive that the
pick-ups get a weak version??

It looks like the GMC shares the same headlamps.
They look like they used more badge engineering on these than the last generation.
Better truck? Probably.
Sad that the badge engineering will probably never go away even though you keep hearing that it will.

Maybe they're just clearing out the 4.3s? I don't know, I have one, its a torquey little motor. Good enough for something Blazer size, but perhaps overwhelmed by a full size.

from what i hear they will be making a "classic" series and the newer body style which is what you see in those pictures above.
The classic series from what I was told will look just like the gmc do now, and what the older chevys used to look like (when they looked like gmc's)

The powertrain figures are somewhat disappointing, if accurate. The 5.3 and 6.0 (which will be the two most popular engine choices) don't gain anything, do they?
It basically looks like GMT-800 motors in a fresher package. They should've done much more for a "ground-up" redesign.

Thats the best fitting hood the truck has had since 98! Its about time too.
I wonder if you have to buy an HD type to get the 6.2? What core/stroke is a 6.2??
