GM Spokesman & Kirk Ritter... future Camaro blurb?

Good time for the Mustang concept to be on display, huh?
Word has it Bob Lutz & Kurt Ritter were also blown away by the Mustang concept...
One really really wants a Camaro, the other is the gate keeper to the Strategy Board.
Stay tuned.

What if they made a coupe and sedan version of the next Camaro and called the sedan version Chevelle? it would work for me, and would sell 100K+ no problem.

An interesting idea... but for me to even consider it to be 'ok' , they'd have to be sure NOT to share ANY visible parts... Interior or exterior...
Even with that, I'd think a Chevelle would be better based of GTO than a Camaro, unless of course, Camaro end up on the new GTO platform as well...
But, as others mention in several threads... cowl height, etc would be so different, you'd think, between a Camaro and a Chevelle, that there'd be lots of changes to make one into the other...
I still think that we're going to wait till at least 2008. I don't think their lying when they say they currently don't have any plans (or concepts) for the Camaro yet, and their not going to just splice something together in the next couple months. 2010 sounds most reasonable to me. Hell, the next Camaro might just be a frame that goes on the autonomy chassis.
Look how they've treated the 4th gen...What makes you think Mr Lutz (and his so called "jokes") is going to turn anything around for the Camaro? So far he has shown no interest in it.

With that much on his plate and a budget to meet, let's be completely honest, Camaro isn't (or perhaps, wasn't?) of front line importance, especially since GM has some things to sort through before it uses the 'Camaro' name again. The "niche" cars that he approved are going to divisions that need a interesting car in their showroom, and Chevrolet already has the Corvette.
Not something we want to hear, but still a pretty smart strategy.

Mr. Lutz has a fleet of W body cars that are 10 years old, a couple of J bodies that dates back to the early 80s, Saturn has had barely a dime in investment since it was created, 2 new FWD chassis that were/are in the pipeline, a complete reinvention of Cadillac underway, a revamping of Buick before it's market dies out, and a board of directors that just remembered that GM also makes cars, and he has a budget to work within. By all indications he is interested in a new Camaro, but till just lately his priorities have been elsewhere.

Camaro = coupe
Chevelle = coupe with suiside doors (like the Ion)
Chevy Sedan = Sedan (name TBA)
all models sharing the same platform, but with 99% different exteriors and interiors (like the Monte and Impala)
I'd love to see a RWD V8 Chevy coupe with suiside doors (but not named Camaro). I think with this setup they could get volume they need and everyone should be happy

Its a great thing that he's revamping other divisions. But he still hasn't said/done anything about the Camaro, and all signs show that he won't do anything with it for a while, which is why I said we'll probably wait till at least 2008 before we see a 5th gen.

) if it doesn't come back till 2008, I'd imagine something went wrong along the way.

Since Chevelle actually came as a two door or a four door, I find it a decent place to use suice doors, if there are to be used somewhere at all...
