GM Spokesman & Kirk Ritter... future Camaro blurb?
A GM spokesman said Chevrolet will add a rwd car later in the decade but declined to be specific. It currently offers the rwd Corvette.
Kurt Ritter, marketing general manager of Chevrolet, said any nameplate added to the line must be "affordable" and high volume - 100,000 or more.

This backs up a lot of what we have been projecting/assuming/hearing/digging up ...

No seriously, sounds like good news to me. I doubt this has anything to do with a Chevrolet Monaro/GTO variant (Chevelle). I doubt that will ever have that high of production numbers. Even if its not a Camaro, which I hope to God it is, at least they said "RWD", "affordable" and "high volume".

Nothing new here. We already know Chevrolet is redoing Impala in 2006 (2004 is just a reskinning for 2 seasons).
To translate, Mr. Ritter basically confirmed that Impala (and likely the Monte or Chevelle... depending on what they'll call it) will be likely made along side the new 2006 GTO (which probally won't be an orphan model either).
If approved, the "sports coupe" will come afterwards.

So if/when Camaro comes back....What time frame are we looking at?
Personally I can accept late 05 as an 06 model yr, but if we start saying things like 07 or 08 I'm done.
I will do the best I can to hold out for a new Camaro but enough is enough.

I think this would indeed be similar to what someone on this board said "look to history repeating itself" well the mustang came out in 64 and the camaro in 67 well as things are the all new retro mustang will debut as an 05 model and I think that probably the camaro will be on track to debut in 06 as an '07 model, and while i am hoping that it comes alongside the Goat i firmly believe that that moniker is chevelle, and that any new camaro would have to spawn off another platform (solstice?)

Good time for the Mustang concept to be on display, huh?
Word has it Bob Lutz & Kurt Ritter were also blown away by the Mustang concept...
One really really wants a Camaro, the other is the gate keeper to the Strategy Board.
Stay tuned.
