Don't compare modded Hemis to a stock 6.0 385hp.

Mod the 6.0 and it would blow away the modded Hemi.

Afterall M/T tested a reg cab Hemi against the Silverado SS and despite weighing 500lbs more the SS still beat the Dodge.

So stock for stock, the current 345hp 6L takes the 5.7L 345hp Hemi.

If they can have a significant price advantge by ditching the AWD ect I think it would do well. They might sell some to younger people who can't afford the 40K+ trucks.

And it would still take a Harley.......the are 3/4ton 6L Powerstroke diesels now.

385 HP Trailblazer SS and SSR Can't wait!

Silverado's SS should still be north of 400 though IMHO. And still have AWD as an option for that power.

Regular cab Hemis can be had for less than 25K. Compare that to a SS, and the 15K saved could easily be put into a cold air kit, cat back, headers, programmer (if someone would ever come out with one), APS torque converter and we are looking at Hemi that will run with Lightnings, and blow an SS to the weeds. On another board I frequent, there is a Hemi that runs hight 12s, low 13s with a similarly modded truck with a 100 shot. Add in the Kenne Bell blower, and the SRT10 has competition.

Last year (end of the year), you could get a stripper Hemi ST reg. cab for $16K. Most run in the low 15s stock. But, some folks are getting into the 14s and I heard of one n/a run high 13s. Chevy better offer that stripper SS reg. cab for a cheap if they want to compete.

You bring up a good point. You can get a Hemi in a base Dodge Ram, and the only mandatory option is the automatic. Go for the optional 3.92 axle, and you have a 345 horsepower truck for $23,000. Throw in incentives, and you can have it for about 20 large! Meanwhile, over at GM, if you want that many horses from your Silverado, you have to spring for the 2500, which starts at $24,300, with probally similar incentives.

Though the Silverado is a way better deal than the SS performance-wise (I'm sure thre's plenty you could do with the $16,000 you'll save), for the $1,300 difference between the Dodge & Chevy, there is still quite a few performance enhancing things you could do.

I'm not really a truck guy....but I think a 385 hp, 6.0, six speed, regular cab Silverado sounds great.....as long as it's a good value.

When it was suggested that such a stripper SS truck would go for 23K....I could barely contain myself. I'd doubt that we'll see anywhere close to that. But as long as it's a good value....like well under $30K...I think that would be great. If it can run with the current Lightning...for fewer dollars...it will be a winner.

So what ..if it can't compete with Ram SRT-10......as long as it costs 15-17,000 dollars less. At that price, I'd bet plenty here would buy a regular cab Silverado SS. Anyone here willing to spend the money on an SRT-10?

I got my SLT Hemi with leather for 24500. Their was a 4500 rebate on 2003s at the time, so out the door was 20K with tax docs, and license. Since I saved so much, I added the 100K extended warranty. I sold my 1996 Honda Passport prior, so my Hemis net cost was 13K. It has 3.92s, 17s (which are lighter than the 20s) and is awaiting the mythic superchips or hypertech programmer. If and when they do come out, Thorley headers are not far behind. Then look out Harleys. I will be a supercharger away from killing lightnings and possibly SRT10s. I looked into a Silverado ss, but I was looking at 40K for a LQ9 equipped boat. I love GM, but I gotta go where the bargains are!
