But, what is GM to do in the coming weeks in regards to lowering healthcare costs with the Union? I fear GM will find themselves in the same position they are in now.

Yes, this did "pull ahead" sales...sure it may have lured a few buyers from the dark side...but the fact remains and the end of this sure to succeed promotion, there's still healthcare costs to deal with and an ever rising pension.

How does GM plan to address that? A "unilateral" action will not work, as the Union has so dilligently pointed out (and the General has backed away from) thus it leaves us with the inevitable...."what's next?" for GM?

While this is a nice big band aide on a really big cut, I fear this will not stop the bleeding for a company that requires surgery soon.

You are correct in that our cars and trucks have to more than satisfy if we're to keep these new owners in new GM products down the road.

Not only did the promotion put "fannies in seats"...it cleared the 05 inventory and also kept assembly plants from closing temporarily.....and let me tell you, closing a plant for even one week involves costs that will make your teeth and hair follicles hurt!
I've been trying to say all of this in about 5 different threads over the course of the employee pricing program....... a lot of people don't want to hear any of it.... maybe it'll carry more weight coming from you.
